Target is closing Some Stores - List here

The chain says the closings are part of a natural process of trying to refine its portfolio of stores, shutting a few every year to winnow out the losers while expanding with promising new ones.

In Target's case, it says it will have opened 32 new stores in 2017, creating 2,000 jobs.

The 12 stores being closed will stay open through the holiday season and beyond, finally shutting on Feb. 3.

"This decision was not made lightly," said Target spokeswoman Erin Conroy. "We have a rigorous process in place to evaluate the performance of every store on an annual basis, closing or relocating underperforming locations as needed."

The closings come at a time when Target is facing tremendous pressure from online merchants like Amazon, which has forced it to watch costs and try to come up with creative strategies to keep its stores viable.

The stores being closed are:

•Eastland in Harper Woods, Mich.

•Hutchinson, Kans.

•Benton Harbor, Mich.

•Fergus Falls, Minn.

•Hastings, Minn.

•Macon, Ga.

•Slidell, La.

•Lauderhill, Fla.

•Matteson, Ill.

•Romeoville, Ill.

•Baltimore West

•San Antonio Far East

Looks like the boycott is working! I'll bet all these areas were areas of conservationism. Can't stand the LBGT store commercials! Whenever I see a Target commercial, I either leave the room or change the channel until it's over!

Open or close, I don't go to known left wing joints.

2 yrs ago for Christmas I was given a $50 gift card for Target. Since I can not bring myself to step foot in that Cesspool of Depravity I have yet to use it. Shame because if I were to go in there no doubt I would spend a lot more then the 50 bucks on the card. Their fault. They grew it now they have no other choice but to suck up their dropping sales.

It appears that most of the stores are in high-minority concentrated areas. The one in Baltimore for example is in the Mondawin mall. I bet a white person hasn't walked in there since it opened!

Cesspool of Depravity, really?

A politically correct CEO who is finding out that making deviancy an official company policy may go over good with a few OTHER deviant loving whack jobs, but for MOST Americans, letting a 45 year old man walk into the bathroom right behind your 9 year old daughter is NOT what people think is a smart move.
I wonder if he now "identifies" as a loser who cost his company hundreds of millions of dollars.
He wanted to kiss the ace of strangeness.
He got a spanking instead. Than you, America.
Keep cheering.

Has nothing to do with you no money shorebillies boycotting Target. Brick and mortar stores cannot compete with e commerce.

I wonder if these stores that are in heavily Democratic plagued neighborhoods with high crime rate/ high unemployment has anything to do with shutting them down?

2:47 That's the pot calling the kettle black. Crime is through the roof in Salisbury, there are no good jobs, property values suck and 80% of housing are rental. The schools are horrible. Gangs deal drugs and shoot each other in the streets. Yup, y'all good a paradise going on. So sad you aren't smart enough to realize how horrible your area is.
