The City of Salisbury partners with Habitat for Humanity in efforts to keep Church Street clean

Habitat for Humanity is proud to announce the City of Salisbury’s placement of two trash cans at the intersection of Church street and Naylor. The trash bins will be located out front and behind the convenient store at the intersection. They will be picked up every Friday by the City. Habitat for Humanity and the city of Salisbury will be working together in observing how the local community utilizes the public waste bins in a thirty-day trial. Further discussions on how to execute a more permanent solution for trash and possible recycling will be determined after.

It has been our mission to beautify the Church street neighborhood. With the help of the community we will promote the usage of trash cans in the neighborhood. Keeping a neighborhood clean is vital for the physical and spiritual appeal of the area. Neighborhood revitalization is imperative in the development of a community.

Another dream, as if two trash cans can beautify one of the worst neighborhoods in Salisbury. Must be one of Jakie Neutron's ideas.

The trash doesn't throw itself onto the ground and in the road...just saying.

Dumpster Diving heaven for some.

Better put a Biohazard sign on it, as it will be filled with condoms and needles by the end of the week.

They need to be observing the heroin/crack dealers and arresting them. The SPD/Limelight Lewis don't even enforce the littering laws.

Post a cop there 24/7 and write tickets for littering. That will stop littering and drug dealing.

Must be another pipe dream of Day's. Doubt that Church St. will ever be clean again. Just like a lot of other areas around town. Too many thugs and drug users who couldn't care less how they live.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

City Councilman Louweezil Smith had this great idea of having a community clean up day every month on a Saturday to clean up the trash. NONE, absolutely NONE of the community was there to help so they had to get city employees and the volunteer firemen to pick up the trash on a Saturday. They would pick up the trash on Saturday and two days later on Monday the streets were trashy again.

The Louweezil would brag everywhere she went about how many tons, yes TONS of trash they picked up on one short section of Ghetto Church Street.

These uncivilized animals would pull there pimp mobiles right up on the grass in the front yard and throw the trash right on the ground.

Those animals are NASTY people.

It's obvious there needs to be some sort of attempt to reach these people on a more personal level. A level to possibly change their perception and the choices being made and possibly live a more productive wholesome life. Here's my question to you so Called Mayor why haven't you and your cronies Bill Cropper and the rest of your supernatural healing guru's done a community sweep of the area and try to change the lives of these people? Why is it you just want to take the top 1% of the area, the ones already exposed to a better life and not get out in the actual trenches of societies real problems and make a difference

The kind of Animals that live in that area are not the kind that understand about how it is to live as a human.

What a joke. Lipstick on a pig is correct. These pigs drive down the street and throw their trash out the window. Not sure how this is going to solve that problem.

Lipstick on a Pig? How did this turn to talk about Hillary Clinton?

If they add a Hoop and net above the trash bin, this could work. Scoreboards and team jersey could be added later.

the basketball court around harmon field is always filthy, its like living in a third world country. the county parks are embarrassingly dirty. the animals that use them don't care. the city and county need to hire employees willing to bend over and pick up some trash

It's not fair to say everyone there is trash or pigs. I drive through on my way to work and there are young kids who have no say in their situation. There are also a number of homes who have owners that seem to genuinely care as their yards are well kept and the houses look clean. Some bad apples, sure, but to categorize all people who live there like that is wrong.

I can clean it up.I have a d-9 caterpillar dozer on a 50 ton trailer sitting on east sby parking lot. Gps saying push it all down due west until you reach rt-13.

By the way Its Church Skreet.

I agree! I drive thru there several times a week and haven't had any problems with trash OR people. I have a feeling that many commenters NEVER travel this area, but they still have an "opinion" about it. There are many families on that street who try their best.
