Sydney woman Justine Damond shot dead by Minnesota police

An Australian woman was dressed in her pyjamas when American police gunned her down, harrowing new details surrounding her death have revealed.

Justine Damond, who also uses the name Justine Ruszczyk, was at home on Saturday night when she called 911 to report a noise and a possible assault in an alley in South Minneapolis, Minnesota.

While police did not have body cameras switched on during the shooting, sources with knowledge of the incident claim the officers arrived at the alley at 11.30pm on Saturday night.

Ms Damond reportedly walked up to the car and began talking to the driver when an officer in the passenger seat pulled a gun and shot her through the drivers side door. No weapon was discovered at the scene, the Star Tribune reports.

The 40-year-old was originally from Sydney but had been living in the US for three years and was due to marry American businessman Don Damond, 50, in August.

Peculiar, she was going to marry a dude with the same last name? From half-way around the world.

She had already assumed his last name (for whatever reason.)

The 'cop' that shot her was a Somali who reached across his partner from the passenger side of the cruiser and shot her through the window for no apparent reason.

But the MSM are strangely quiet about it. Huh. I'm shocked -- shocked.

Yeah, saw on tv last nite it was Obama's friend that shot her and he wasn't suspended with pay either - still working.

No, she had begun to use his last name as a convenience prior to marriage.

The real question is "why was she shot?".

What is wrong with the trigger-happy cops these days??? Roid-rage??

sad story...

She was shot because she called the police.
Don't call the police.

I also find it interesting that it was the passenger that shot her (ie he had to fire across the other officer) and that she was shot through the door. That would be the same door they use for protection in a violent situation. Even if they somehow manage to lay the blame on Justine, the officer should be tried for reckless endangerment.

Jihadi Somali affirmative action hire with previous complaints in a 2 yr career - partnered with a younger Community Svc cop - now giving all US cops a bad name...

And now the greatest nation on earth is paying the Muslim immigrant to sit at home (administrative leave) for mis-handling his weapon and killing an unarmed woman while on duty. No wonder they all want to come here.

Shame on Minneapolis for hiring that muslim.

So this innocent and unarmed white woman from Australia gets shot and killed by cop, who was hired by Minneapolis Police Dept as First Somalian Muslim Officer. Well, any word from CNN, ABC, MSNBC how could that happen? What? Do I hear Crickets? I would really like the explanation from "the cop", but not before taking him in front of the judge and charging him with murder.
Prayers for the family of this poor woman.

so basically, our police forces are now populated with ex-military with mental issues, (look it up yourselves), and Muslims who don't like America or Americans or dogs, (look that up too).

Police have been killing 1,000+ people each year for decades. Some justified, others not. Not to mention beating them to death, including mentally disabled people. (You can look that up too if you want)

I am not bashing police just stating what is already out there per news reports and FBI reports.

Maybe this case will be the straw that broke the camel's back and something will be done in terms of better training and vetting of police officers.

No one should be scared after calling the police, and certainly not beaten or killed after calling them, IF they do not attack police.

Anon 8:45 PM: I completely forgot about that verse in the movie. That was a good one!

Now as far as this shooting goes, it appears to be completely unjustified. This guy must have thought that he was back home and that she was approaching them with a bomb-vest.
