☇☇goverment.

unreal! makes no sense at all !

Anytime you elect a Democrat expect some of your rights to be lost. Just another reminder from leftist government that they own your property not you.

This is what being overtaxed gets us. A fence reform commission.

Anonymous said...

It's because thugs can hurt themselves at night running through your back yard carrying your neighbor's TV.

Anonymous said...

So you get screwed twice.
You have to pay to remove your old fence, because they will be making you
and then you pay to put in your new fence.

I am so glad Jake is taking care of the important issues !
Just think of what a craphole this place would be if he werent addressing this most important issues!

I have a wooden fence that will barely last me 15 years and needs to be replaced. The chain link would have lasted longer.

I have pets and I will not remove mine so bite me.i paid for it they didn't

Under what authority will they try to do this to private property?

There is NOTHING that gives them such authority..

Making code and compliance one big HOA, one rule at a time.

This is the craziest item ever, at least any fence defines a space and usually they are cared for and replaced when needed. Instead of such a lame duck idea, why not bring up crime which is once again rampant. I live in the Presidents Neighborhood Assoc. Crimes just since 6/13/17 in the Washington St general area: 6/13/17 breakin on Jackson Street in am with person inside at the time! 6/27/17 loud altercation with 8-10 people corner of Washington & Jackson 7:30 pm multiple teenagers running on sidewalks in yards and street. One jumped our 6' fence my husband told him to get down tore fence and severely dented city trashcan used to get on fence. And this makes you worry over fences. Overlook foreclosed and bank owned properties idle for years, grass some yards over 12" high, piles of lumber, busted up furniture in yards over 6mos. Illegal housing 5-8 vehicles at single occupancy homes, multiple electrical & gas hook-ups. Back yards used as parking lots so many vehicles. Break-ins and thefts have tripled. GET A GRIP FENCES ARE NOT THE PROBLEM!

I'm usually quiet and seldom comment but I really have to ask...who stays up all night thinking up these BULL SH*T ideas? Chain link fencing is superior ... what the hell is wrong with these people? This is AMERICA where we have FREEDOM. You wanna tell me what I can and can't do with MY property...YOU PAY FOR IT! Thank God I moved out of the city limits years ago. I anticipate my next move is out of this God forsaken HELL HOLE being Salisbury AND Maryland and a real shame it is...I'm a home owner WITH A MORTGAGE and have lived here all my life, that's 50+ years. I won't even go there on the subject of trying to find a job for the past 6 months! So sad to see what was ONCE a beautiful TOWN turn into what it has become. No wonder Hogan is getting all the businesses to opt for the WESTERN SHORE. Way to go POLITICIANS...NOT!!

Seeing that the real estate market is doing so spectacular he decided to screw with it. Had to get his piece of the 133K each home value increased.

Razor wire is the new chain link in "Da Bury".

Fake Day said that chain link fencing is a hate crime.

Anonymous said...

Gillis-Gilkerson must do fences now.

Anonymous said...

Right on!!! If they want then changed, let them replace them. Guess they feel everybody lives on their salaries

I suppose a way to shake down the people to pay for that recent lawsuit against the Salisbury police dept. People dnt comply, they ll start to fine them.

Absolutely hilarious!
What an astute comment. I think you are on to something.
LOL

Anonymous said...

How about they worry about removing that fence on Main street first......

Anonymous said...

Liberals believe you don't own your property so they tell you what you can do.

Anonymous said...

See a big juicy class action lawsuit against the city on this crazy issue.

without out a chain link fence how am I going to my chickens in the yard

Anonymous said...

Exactly!

Anonymous said...

They should be comcerned about no fencing on the Riverwalk before they try to do away with ours. Idiots

Not a damn thing they can do if everyone refuses to do this. Just stand together. Show them just who has the real power.

10:10 PM just because we didn't break it down for YOU doesn't mean we do not know how to navigate the website. Another jake spy?

No chain link fence in city, if you are residential. No grandfathering your fence.

So, stupid, I suggest you re-read the comments because they are on target.

I see alot of "No Trespassing" signs in my future. I do have a chain link fence and I intend to keep that chain link fence. City you can go fence yourself in with whatever kind of fence you want, but leave mine alone.

Jake should concern himself about the River Walk fencing and quit nosing his snout in private citizens' property and affairs. He's barking up the wrong tree. Not a wise move for a first term. Not wise at all.

PAGE 61 ALERT!
P. 61 is where non- owner occupied house tax goes from $.90 per $100 to $2.40!!!!!!

A 250% increase on ALL rental properties!!!! That's 80% of the City's housing properties! Rents will have to be raised to cover this if it passes at this meeting.

Anonymous said...

And page 92, (last) gives our City Attorney a $38,000 raise for this year!!!

Anonymous said...

841 of course. They're going to need Tilghman 24/7 because the city is being sued by the ACLU for non-disclosure of information. Demone is getting sued in the same lawsuit, too. Saw the papers on The Daily Times yesterday. It looks like that's going to be a very expensive suit from the city and the ACLU is not known for making settlements so Salisbury better be prepared for a huge blast to their illegal budget for attorney fees to defend the Police Department.

Joe, thanks for listing that Packet here. Lots of goodies in there just waiting to be discovered if anyone bothers to inform themselves. Chopped full of nuts and bolts of just how asinine our local, um, leader really is in his maladjusted math.

The "approved" fencing materials seem to be narrowed to wood or vinyl slats. That's very restrictive and a smack in the face to those who are creative and decorate their own properties with attractive fences made of things other than the two material choices at Lowe's and Home Depot. There are some fences in the city that are works of art.
I think that it's Day's way of gentrifying the neighborhoods, especially on the west side of town, one regulation at a time.

Anonymous said...

Day doesn't want chain link fences around residential properties, but he allows landlords to turn front, side and back yards into ugly and messy gravel covered parking lots.

On the face of it, this makes no sense given the many other problems to be dealt with in Salisbury. However, Salisbury has been run by the Slum Lords for many years now. One way to increase the properties available for sale to those Slum Lords is to motivate the few property owners left to sell, either by irritating them or forcing a cost upon them that they cannot bear. This proposed ordinance does both, and therefore makes sense from that perspective. Given the apathy in Salisbury, and the fact that few property owners are left, and that the City willfully obscures such decisions (looks like they pulled the link down after you exposed it), this will likely become law. Good luck enforcing it.

Check out the proposed new hires Jake wants approved. The first two are just kids that "want to help" in city government, not LEAD! Two more of Jakie's friends given salaries with nothing to do.

With so many of the kinds of fences that are going to be prohibited, it's easy to see where in the city and which residents are being targeted, those who have very modest properties to match their very modest incomes.

Anonymous said...

We are missing something here... I understand that a PAID permit is required to put up a fence. This is a massive movement to check the legality of every fence and collect more money in fines and new permits under the pretense of whatever the pretense is. Just another money grab...

Anonymous said...

Let's see so far one person has drowned since taking down the fencing along Riverwalk, how many more this summer will fall and can't climb back to land? But the FENCES are a big deal. News flash for FAKE JAKE take care of the mistakes you have already made before you put both feet in your mouth over another NO SENSE LAW.

Anonymous said...

I just rode down S Division St. Most of SU property is surrounded by chain link fencing. Are they going to abide by this law too? Wouldn't bet on it.

Anonymous said...

Will they change the fence around the dog park?

Anonymous said...

Jake and the city need to take time out maybe some therapy would help!

Anonymous said...

University and dog park are
not residential properties.

what are the fences around the city police cars/building doing.THE SAME THIS THAT RESIDENTS ARE DOING protecting what is ours. Leave our fences alone. The chickens that were approved HOW do we keep them in the yard. Do something productive!
