Maryland school system posts 80 percent increase in reports of sexual harassment

More than 200 incidents of sexual harassment of students were reported in Montgomery County’s public schools in the last academic year, a one-year jump of more than 80 percent, according to new data from the Maryland school system.

The numbers show that reports of such misconduct — including inappropriate physical contact, written messages and verbal remarks — rose for a third straight year, to 214 in 2015-16. That was 96 more than the previous year’s total.

School officials said Wednesday they plan to look into the issue and will move to a new process in the next school year that will provide clearer data on serious incidents, including sexual harassment.

“We’re still in the very early phases of what this could mean,” said Derek Turner, spokesman for the school system.

Just don't go out looking to be sexually harassed. If someone bumps into you in the hallway,or tells you how nice you look that doesn't count. If someone asks you out multiple times that doesn't count.Be realistic and be objective. Not everyone is ogling over you and some people are just overly friendly.

Anyone really surprised by this? Why? You let people into the country without vetting, coming from rape culture countries and then wonder why sexual assaults and harassment escalate? Why is this such a mystery? Democrats and their liberal bourgeois is what's at the heart of this trend which skyrockets with every passing year. You want the rape culture to stop then stop importing them in from countries where you know it's norm in their behaviors and upbringing.

From what the young teen girls are wearing it is a wonder they aren't raped more often! They dress like streetwalkers and their low cut tops are barley covering the points! Then there are those that wear those very tight stretch pants without underwear leaving nothing to the imagination. I see many a young boy having to put his backpack in the front of him to avoid embarrassment from the way these girls are dressing, or should I say not dressing!

Really? So every woman on the beach in a bikini deserves to be raped because they are not covered up? Maybe your bus should drop you in a muslim country where you and other males won't be tempted by the sight of a woman's body.

Young girls are dressing so provocative it is shameful to see! Bob is right when he said they barely have their boobs covered, and those Yoga pants, if they only knew how much they are showing. I can tell you where your piercings are!

Maybe they should teach boys/men that it doesn't matter what people where. They should learn to control themselves or go live in a muslim country where they women where tents. Rape still happens there also so it seems it doesn't matter what women where men have no self control.

This is happening in SCHOOLS. Most schools have dress codes so you would think they weren't allowed to wear "provocative" clothing. No matter what they wear it doesn't justify or give the person a right to abuse someone. Self control!
