Class Action Over The Meaning Of ‘Sale’ Means Harbor Freight Customers Get Refunds

Have you shopped at any of discount tool chain Harbor Freight’s 750 U.S. stores recently? A recent class action settlement over the chain’s understanding of how a “sale” works means that customers can get refunds that range from 10% to 30% of whatever they spent at the store, or a $10 gift card.

The lawsuit alleged that Harbor Freight slapped “Sale” and “Compare at” tags on items that weren’t actually sold at that price for long enough. For an item to be considered on sale, the item must have had that original price for at least 28 of the preceding 90 days.

While the lawsuit was filed at the Court of Common Pleas in Ohio, if the settlement is approved, it will apply to all Harbor Freight customers in the United States who bought items with alleged fake sale price tags between April 8, 2011 and Dec. 15, 2016.

Anyone dumb enough to buy the crap from that place deserves to be overcharged! The tools suck, as does everything else. Go figure, they come to Salisbury, but we can't get a harris teeter....

There's a market for inexpensive tools and accessories, ones that probably won't be handed down to the next generation. I'm just glad that they're successful in a location that couldn't hold a commercial tenant since the boat supply company left ten or more years ago.

6:55 Who peed in your cheerios? It is not for you to decide what others buy or why. Some of the tools are not top quality, but I have a $250 pancake compressor and a $45 pancake compressor from HF, they both work fine and i'm not out $250 if someone steals the HF one from my truck.

It is attitudes as your's that upper scale retailers pass Salisbury by.
I have purchased some tools from HF totally knowing that they are not the top of line. They serve my purposes just.
Ranting out in such an abusive manner only demonstrates a lower class of clientel...

There is No Reason for the Government to get involved with this. Frankly, if you are so Dumb that you get fooled by the word sale, you probably have too many other problems, too. Most of us understand that it is just a gimmick. You should grow up, too!
