Welcome the Holidays with Music in Mardela Springs

On Saturday, November 26 the public is invited to attend a free concert in the historic Barren Creek Springs Church at 110 Main St. in Mardela Springs that promises to put everyone in the holiday spirit! In a series of “musical vignettes” students and faculty members from Northwestern Elementary School and Mardela Middle and High School, joined by members and friends of the Westside Historical Society and the Adkins Historical Museum & Complex, will be offering a variety of musical gifts.

Included in the program will be performances by a Middle School quartet of Abreya Gunther, Brooklin Tyndall, Tianna Staten, and Matthew Guy, on flutes, clarinet, and tenor sax; mother and daughter flute duet by Kimberly and Emily Lawson; and Alyssa and Andrew Boltz and their dad, Band Director Cory Boltz, on trumpet, French Horn and trombone! Also From Northwestern Elementary School teacher of Band & Orchestra Buck Burton will be singing and playing the guitar. Westside Historical Society member Donna Adler will give a “mini-recital” on the beautiful antique pump organ in the Church, and several surprise performances!

The program begins at 2:00 pm and will last until approximately 3:30 pm on Saturday, November 26. There is no admission, though donations toward the maintenance of the restored historic (1842) Church are welcome. Parking on the church grounds is limited to performers and handicapped, but guests are welcome to park across the street and walk up the short lane to the Church. Refreshments will be served at the end of the program.
