Trump Defends Muslim Ban - Constitution Doesn't Necessarily Give Us the Right to Commit Suicide

Sunday on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” while discussing banning Muslims form certain territories, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump doubled down ona claim he had made a week earlier in an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” with his vice-presidential pick Gov. Mike Pence (R-IN), which was the Constitution was “great,” but it didn’t “necessarily give us the right to commit suicide.”

Trump said, “I don’t think so. I actually don’t think it’s a pull back in fact, you could say it’s an expansion. I’m looking now at territories. People were so upset when I used the word Muslim. Remember this. I’m OK with that because I’m talking territory instead of Muslim. But just remember this, our Constitution is great, but it doesn’t necessarily give us the right to commit suicide, OK? We have a religious, everybody wants to be protected, and that’s great and that’s a wonderful part of our Constitution. I view it differently. Why are we committing suicide? Why are we doing that? I live with our Constitution. I love our Constitution. I cherish our Constitution. We’re making it territorial. We have nations and will come out with a number of the places and it’s very complex.”

There is nothing close to a coherent thought in all his rambling

A great speaker he isn't.

In other words, 12:37 and 1:34, it doesn't matter what you say but speak eloquently?

I agree with the 2 commenters.
Maybe it was the script we are reading however.
The sentences do not make any sense.

The US Constitution placed LIMITATIONS on the Federal Government.
It did NOT place any restrictions on human beings.
We have free will.
We deserve Common Law as authorized in the US Constitution.

Trump's use of the work "we" in this article is wrong.
The constitution says nothing about the People.
It addresses the government and what it can and cannot do to us.

We people own our bodies.
We can kill ourselves if we choose to do so.
Who can stop us, and why would anyone want to?

Hate to break it to you guys but the Constitution only covers "legal" citizens not illegals or specific people who bring harm to the citizens. It is the Federal Government's job to protect citizens from enemies: foreign AND domestic.

Go get your pocket Constitution out and READ it until you UNDERSTAND it!

Thank you, 436! The Constitution sets up the structure of the government, the Bill of Rights limits their power.

That means importing young male warriors from a warring country is wrong and not acceptable. Oh, and prohibited. Leave them in their own country to fight their own war. What, we bring them here for protection and send our own to fight their war, for FREE?

People need to get a grip on what's going on. ISIS is sending their warriors here and Europe to populate the planet with Islam.
