Md. seminary student dies after saving someone's life

A Maryland seminary student is presumed dead after he tried to save the life a struggling kayaker.

Brian Bergkamp, 24, studied at Mt. St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg.

Authorities say he went missing in the Arkansas River, in Wichita, Kansas after kayaking with several other people.

Wichita's fire chief told WUSA9 that a female kayaker was having trouble in the water. He believes Bergkamp jumped in the river, gave that woman his life vest and then brought her to safety.

THIS is a situation where you correctly use the word "hero". Such a sad and tragic event.
