A Viewer Writes: Fly In At Salisbury Airport

I heard there is going to be a private airplane contest at the Salisbury Airport on the 14th open to the public to watch.

It is called a spot landing contest, see who can land closet to the marking on he runway, first time ever at Salisbury. People should know their is more at Salisbury Airport than Allegheny airlines.
It would be nice if you could put something in your blog about it.

oh please, give it a rest. used to be alot more going on out there, remember when we had 2 airlines serving this community. bob bryant has done nothing, i repeat nothing to advance this airport, all he does is suck up tax dollars. Regional jets bob? we been hearing about them from you for years. anyone seen one? although he did get a parking lot in order to make everyone pay for parking there. meanwhile american airlines get free landing rights. total joke. I suggest you drive to bwi and take a direct flight if you have to be some where!

first of all let me say that i have worked at the airport since 2004 and been using the airport since the 70s there has never been more than one airline at any time running out of salisbury, the parking lot that you say he put together to make you pay for parking is not even operated by the sal9isbury airport it is leased by republic parking out of chattanooga tenn.and has been in buisness for 40 years 54 million dollars has been spent to construct a new runway but there is not a hangar big enough yet to accomadate larger planes yet a new drainfield is currently being installed and the terminal heating and air system is currently being renovated the flight issues are not the fault of the airport but of us american airlines formerly us air and american airlines lazy employees and broken down planes bigger jets are coming there is one already at the salisbury airport that the pilots are using to train on.......i am not a fan of bryant either but lets put the blame where it really lies, with the airline and stop posting lies and accusations because of your bad expierence and one last thing they are new planes the old ones have been dismantled for parts i know i have watched it happen over the last 8 months

8:17 I call BS! you are so wrong. remember presidential airlines? they were the second airline that flew out of sby in the 80's.
the hangars american gets for damn next to nothing are big enough for regional jets. so again you are wrong. i highly doubt 54 million was spent on just a new runway. Seem's way way way over budget for one new runway when in fact there have only ever been two runways there. Are you saying they built a new third one? As for the parking who gave the sweetheart contract and why do the travelers have to pay when american gets a free ride (landing fees)? american's mechs have all been let go except for a few and they now use non licensed personnel to work on the jets with a mech coming behind to sign for their work.
lets not even go into the sweet heart deal for the property across the street which was given to the county with a $1 lease back for 99 years so they could get free county water and sewer hook up.
All these city / county commissions work for their own benefit and not that of the citizen / taxpayer!
ignorance is bliss now crawl back in your hole!

8:17, I don't know how well you memory works but I can tell you for certain that Piedmont has not gotten any new dash 8's in the last 18 years! The planes you watched dismantled are out of cycles and scrap. The jets you saw and won't be seeing coming in and out of Salisbury were hand me downs that were sitting out in a desert with new paint jobs.
