I believe this is not a new song. This lady has been around a long time. Not even sure she is still alive. It is a catchy tune back when there was pride in Salisbury.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.... More liberal tricks to take your attention off the real problems.

Could be about Anytown, USA.

My gosh, when there was pride in this town, the song would fit. But now, no pride at all. Salisbury has turned into a sad, no employment opportunities, crime infested town. My plans, though heartbreaking to decide is to get as far away from here as I can.

I've been here for nearly forty years and I can't recall experiencing any sort of pride, either personal or observed, in being from Salisbury.

You all would be surprised at how much pride there is in this town and the Shore by us people who actually have sand in our shoes.

What will happen when the party money runs out? Slumsbury USA.

No one keeps you all here. Go bitch somewhere else. We don't need your crap. We did well before you got here and we will do just fine when you've moved on.

Lived here all my life and gotta tell you don't know exactly what all this pride in city and sand in my toes is coming from. Sakusbury is no where near the town it once was it truly has become a crime drug prodtitution infested area. Not B••••••• or complaining i face the choice to leave ( caring for elderly parents) and plan to exercise that choice but this whole marketing city as some sort of destination or capital of eastern shore is what's truly insane. Who comes up with this garbage. Sounds to me like SU party mentality has carried over into city government. Salisbury is no where near what it once was and never will be. Resident here 40 plus years

There is already a song about Salisbury "Turn out the lights the party's over"

YUCK!!!!

The song needs more of a hip hop sound with something about da'bury, then it would strike home.

Rena Faye died on 27 September, 2005. She was from Salisbury, and loved it growing up in the '50s and '60s; her singing career spanned the '60s and '70s. Far from being anyone's "wannabe," she sang in gospel groups, on the Nashville circuit, and with such singers as Sheb Wooley, Roy Clarke, and Minnie Pearl. She was asked to entertain at private parties, including one at Robert Mitchum's and one, I believe, for a elderly Mafia family on the Bay.

How do I know all this? She was my wife, and my friend. Rest in peace, dear lady. Sammy

Thanks for that background, 1:27. You sound like a good guy.

And for you folks who are leaving for better places - you better get out and look around first. Sorry to say, but Salisbury is not as bad as a lot of places out there. I'd love to hear what sections of the country you think are so much better. I've moved twice and couldn't wait to get back. (And one of those moves was to 'SWFL' - yeeccchhh)

Thank you 1:27, I listened with a new prospective, she was good and it actually did bring back some personal memories. I grew up here but I have lived in 5 different states, been in several countries, and am living back here now. Thank you, God bless you.

Just released? This song has been around for decades. And sorry for your loss Sammy

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comments. Rena was a gentle loving mother, a Christian woman, a country girl that liked swimming in a swimming hole with a inner tube. Driving a clunker in a demolition derby, shooting a .22 rifle at tin cans, walking on the beach holding hands. I met her when she was a cashier at the Banks market on Division street. I was captivated by this young woman singing, yes singing as she worked. She kinda had the look of Annette of Disney fame. Rena believed in what she said in that song about her feelings of Salisbury. I had forgotten about it until just the other day. I think it is a good song and a happy song about a place and a time we all loved dearly. Lets not give up on Salisbury just yet. Sammy

After reading these posts thibk the comments were directed at city government and his they are tirelessly attempting to brand Salisbury as some sort of coastal vacation destination capital of eastern shore non sense. Sure there was no disrespect intended toward anyone

Now if you walk down the street you get attacked by thugs for whiteness.
