Baltimore could be the next city to join the White House's TechHire initiative

Baltimore could be the next city to join a White House effort to quickly train workers for jobs in the technology sector.

The city is in line to be named part of President Barack Obama's TechHire initiative as early as next month, said Michael Cryor, the chairman of the OneBaltimore program. TechHire tries to bring together cities or states with colleges, nontraditional training efforts and employers to get workers into information technology jobs that don't require four-year degrees.

A total of 31 other cities and states have already joined TechHire, including Philadelphia and the state of Delaware. The White House has a goal of growing the initiative to 40 communities by the end of the year.

There are not enough smart people in Baltimore that don't already have this kind of job - this will be another affirmative action / handout program!

Hahaha! !! Well the community don't want to work. I guess Obama has a job for all those Muslims he wants to bring here.

What difference does it make? Corporations will import workers from India for these jobs anyway.

There's a lot of pyrotechnic talent already in Baltimore.

Considering the dull-eyed, slack-jawed hordes so recently parading their predatory talents within city limits, I can hardly imagine there'll be much training them, let alone "quickly".

Meanwhile, their already employed oppressors are finding themselves forced to train their imported foreign replacements. As they prepare to take their proven knowledge and experience out into the scarce pickings of a decimated job market, they'll face stiff competition from the eager new employables.

Or rather, the tax credits and quotas.
