County Executive Culver Thanks Customers

In a telephone conversation this morning County Executive Bob Culver expressed his gratitude towards all of the people that supported his initial venture with the Cellar Door Tavern.

As many of you know, Bob had a successful career in the restaurant industry before becoming the County Executive. This was a hard decision but Culver wanted to make sure there was a solid divide between being an owner of a bar while being your County Executive.

Once elected Bob did sell the business to his children but many still tied his name to the business. While they did have a 15 year lease on the property, it renewed every two years and as a Family they chose to let it go as the owner of the building has several very interested prospects willing to take over the space immediately.

Culver expressed how pleased he is that there would be a very minimal impact on the Downtown economic development and is happy he was able to create business in what sat as an empty space for far too many years.

He stated, people now know the location and from what I've been told the new interested party the building owner is considering will make a fantastic and positive business for people in the County to continue to enjoy.

Culver stated he was so overwhelmed by the support he received over the past two years and hopes everyone can understand that his main concern right now is his commitment to his office as County Executive. Even though I sold the business to my children, I just couldn't commit the time to advise them and fortunately they completely understood.

Class guy; class business: shame it couldn't continue to add some class to what downtown Salisbury has become.

It had very little business. I loved the food. Nobody wants to go down town. If it were located on the North end it would have been packed daily. Ireton has ruined down town.

Downtown Revitalization started out as a great idea. But then the SU kids took over then the thugs. Culver's restaurant was way too nice for downtown.
