Michael Hammons, who served in Desert Storm, said he jumped into action when he heard someone in an Athens shopping center say a dog was in distress, a local NBC affiliate reported.
Witnesses said a group of shoppers noticed the Pomeranian-mix in the hot Mustang without water and were waiting on police to arrive when Mr. Hammons grabbed his wife’s wheelchair leg and smashed the car window, the station reported.

I see nothing wrong here. Why was he arrested, for stealing the cop's thunder? Somebody had to rescue the dog.

The owner was rightly charged as well. Wonder if she learned her lesson though. This happens all the time.

The public should be outraged & show this man some support!
