Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby: Officers charged in death of Freddie Gray

All six Baltimore police officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray have been criminally charged, Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby said Friday at a press conference. Warrants have been issued for their arrest. Mosby’s announcement was met with cheers from those in attendance.

Gray, a 25-year-old black man, died April 19 of a severe spinal cord injury while in police custody. Gray was arrested on April 12. Officials have ruled his death a homicide. Gray was not secured in a seat belt after he was placed in a police van following his arrest, according to police. He “should have received medical attention and did not,” Deputy Commissioner Kevin Davis said last Friday.

Office Caesar Goodson faces the most severe charge, second-degree depraved heart murder, which carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison. Other charges include manslaughter and second-degree assault. A full list of the officers’ names and charges is below.

They'll not get a fair trial regardless....

More than half of the citizens of Baltimore have already convicted the officers. The remainder consider Freddie Gray nothing more than a thug that should have been removed from society.

Maybe, this will result in some bad officers no longer on the street - as well as one less thug!

and that would be an ok outcome.

this 'thug' did nothing illegal in this instance. what if those bad officers were killed just like you knuckleheads condone the killing of civilians?

wouldn't they deserve it like all of you say gray did?

I'm not real good on law but why not the grand jury first? She only took a couple of minutes to come up with all the charges. Little racist to me.

Selling drugs and making eye contact with police is two of the most common actions in that neighborhood, IMHO.

This stuff happens all day, every day.

It's our welfare system at work. This is how it works, and those peaceful folks live like this every day and night.

Want to stop it? Stop the free money generations long.

Killing someone over it?

Way beyond justification. These people are just living the system; no need for anger at them.

Anger at the politics that allows the situation? Hell, yes!

524, how exactly do you draw the "racist" thread into these charges? Was anything found and presented in the charges that represented color? Were the officers involved what colors? What color is Marilyn Mosby? Where in any of this is race or color mentioned?

You need to take a step back and review what it takes to charge someone criminally with a crime.

Hint: Race has nothing to do with anything here.
