Who Knows the Answers to This?

Joe,

I have been around the block to attempt to find out why my internet provider, Cavalier Telephone, has had its Google Mail capabilities yanked, and why its new parent company, Windstream, has such a miserable product to put in place of it. Everyone I talk to at Cavalier and Windstream says that it's Google's fault and that they were given sixty days to find another email provider, no negotiation possible.

I have to say that up to this point, Cavalier has given me excellent service and products, with scarcely a problem over ten years. But this, with the loss of capacity (15 gigabytes of storage vs. 1 gigabyte), loss of emails in migration to the new account, and an interface that is both visually repellent and, in some cases, barely readable, such as its Help page, which is printed in tiny, tiny font in pea green on a white background.

What I want to know is why this happened, why Windstream has such a lousy email product to replace Google Mail, and if anyone else has experienced loss of emails and no effective assistance from Windstream and Cavalier.

Can anyone comment?

Thanks.

switch to a free service, like gmail

One solution is to not use the email provided to you and just open a free Gmail account. Gmail is Google mail and you can just open up a new account with them at no charge. You will then be back to the interface you are used to.

I have a comcast email that I used for years and the trouble with switching email providers is that you risk losing messages that people are sending to your old email address.

The way to fix this is to create a Gmail account and then log into your Windstream email and have all emails sent to the Windstream account forwarded to the new Gmail account.

I hope that doesn't sound to confusing and wish you luck on your issue.
