Students Riding Ups, Downs Of Resort’s Housing Market

Peeling paint. Rusty fixtures. Black mold that looks like it’s been tattooed into the surfaces.

Very few people come to Ocean City expecting the Taj Mahal – especially foreign students looking for work. But even fewer expect to find conditions this substandard.

Shankar lives in the apartment with nine other young Nepalese men. Two bedrooms house four people each. Two bunk-beds in each room leave only a small aisle to enter and exit.

Lot of despicable SLUMlords in Ocean City. Meehan needs to do something to fix this, rather than pretending the problems don't exist due to all the buddies he has that own these dumps, or the State Of Md will be notified!

It is sad as Ocean City was once the place to take the family and have a great time and enjoy a week of fun and water and could afford it. Anymore it has became a dumping ground for drugs / thieves / fights / drunks and everything else that comes with it. Wife and I went down in June and I promise you it will be the last time as it was really sad to see what it has gone to and we went out one night to enjoy the night life and was scared to ride around too long and ended up back in the hotel room. We used to take our grand-daughter down during the 4th of july or late august before school ...but no more.
