DEATH INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY

(Brooklyn Park, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in shallow water in Patapsco Valley State Park this afternoon.

A positive identification of the man has not yet been made. The man was found in about two feet of water and pronounced dead at the scene.

At about 1:30 p.m. today, Maryland State Police were called to the area of Belle Grove Road and Thomas Avenue in Brooklyn Park for the report of a body. Maryland state troopers from the Criminal Enforcement Division Glen Burnie Barrack responded, as did officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department and Natural Resources Police.

Troopers summoned Maryland State Police forensic crime scene technicians and investigators from the State Police Homicide Unit. The body is being recovered from the water and will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

State Police investigators will continue this investigation throughout the night. No further details are available at this time.
