No Fires!

This is no longer a fire department so why are they calling it the Salisbury Fire Department. It should be called Salisbury Emergency Medical Services.

Anonymous 11:31AM allow me to share something with you.

You can't send an ambulance on Medical Assists. It would take another ambulance out of service unnecessarily when the city only has 5 units total. There are 2 such calls listed here.

You can't send an ambulance to an Unknown Type Fire. They are equipped only to treat humans, not put out fires.

You can't send an ambulance to check on an Automatic Fire Alarm like already stated an ambulance is for treating patients not putting out fires.

You can't send an ambulance to put out a Vehicle Fire. I've already stated why. There were 2 of those.

You can't send an ambulance to check on a Gas Leak. They only treat patients.

Now there is also a Structure Fire listed in the Calls for Service. Where do they keep the water required to put out the fire?

So if my adding is corrcect that makes 8 fire related calls listed for this 24 hr period. This doesn't happen every day but the fire department was still need none the less.

Of the calls listed, the location of these calls show that the volunteers handled all of them.

You obviously didn't look through the calls what so ever. There was an automatic fire alarm, two vehicle fires, gas leak, and a structure fire.

I'm not sure how this factors into the mix, but ambulance calls bring in revenue, fire calls do not. If an ambulance makes a run and transports a patient they bill about $450 or more. Most times they get paid, either by insurance or by the patient. If a fire truck goes to a medical assist, a motor vehicle crash or puts out a fire there is no charge, at least that I know of.

Whaaa! Like you people don't have bigger problems to worry about. The eastern shore is done, over with and not going to improve with the exception of OC and Talbot county. Salisbury is a slum and Wicomico county has nothing to offer to anyone looking to relocate. Sorry to say, but it is a fact. Get out or go down with the ship.

You don't get it do you moron. The point of the fact is their is a need for Paramedics and not a need for 60 paid firemen. Let the volunteers handle these B.S. fire calls.

You can put another ambulance on an ambulance call, you are just making stupid gibberish. When you put a fire truck on an ambulance call you are taking a fire truck out of service. DUH!!

And you proved the main point. There are way to many paid firemen who are not needed.
