Ohio Teacher Fired Over Comment On Black President

An Ohio teacher has been fired after a black student who said he wanted to become president claimed the teacher told him the nation didn't need another black commander in chief.

The Fairfield Board of Education voted 4-0 on Thursday night to fire science teacher Gil Voigt from Fairfield Freshman School, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer (http://cin.ci/1kIkFmQ ).

"The district felt that the evidence was sufficient to support the termination of Mr. Voigt's employment," Superintendent Paul Otten said in statement.

Voigt did not immediately return a call seeking comment Friday but has said the student misquoted him.

Again we do not get the context that backs up the decision. If it was said in the sense that we do not need another president voted in simply because he's black, with no other qualifications, I don't think it's a problem. Same as if the student said I'm going to run for office because I'm black. In reality, the teacher should be allowed to have his opinion and do not feel this statement is racist. Political correctness rules what opinions whites are allowed to have when dealing with anyone of a different ethnicity.

Hey you left WACOS...watch your back...WE ARE GATHERING said...

I hope the Teacher sues the pants off of the folks there....

Guilty until proven innocent, I guess.

But it is perfectly fine to text sexual comments to students and not be fired? Or be a drug user?
Where are the priorities?
