Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration Implements Policy Change

GLEN BURNIE, Md. —Long waits have long been a staple of a trip to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, but a policy change is now in effect meant to shorten to wait times.

"(The wait), it's too long. It was too long," driver Danielle Mouring said.

MVA has a marketing campaign out now focused on its new self-serve driver's license renewal process.

"You don't have to leave your home. We'll mail you the product in seven to 10 days," MVA spokesman Philip Dacey said.

I thought the Kiosks were supposed to alleviate waiting somewhat.

It has been great! I do everything online now. All of our registration renewals and license renewals. Very simple and easy now!

Not really when you have to stand behind someone who does not know how to work the machine and you have an employee there who does everything except pay for the transaction.

I tried renewing my drivers license through the mail.., it didn't work. I still had to go to the MVA and go through the lonnggg wait. Seems my picture wasn't clear enough on the new one so along with this subpar license came a note to go and have another one taken.., this is yet another line of BS from MVA.

Great Idea! Does this mean that overall costs are reduced and fewer hires are needed?
