POTHOLE REPAIRS AND DRAINAGE TOP PRIORITIES AS SHA CREWS CONTINUE STORM CLEANUP

Work to also Include Opening Drainage Inlets as Heavy Rain Expected

(February 18, 2014) – Now that the latest winter storm has made its exit, the men and women of the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will turn their attention to filling potholes and opening up drainage inlets as heavy rain, warmer weather and melting are expected through the end of the week.

“Travelers are advised to remain alert for slow moving work zone operations along Maryland’s state roads,” stated SHA Administrator Melinda B. Peters. “Often, our crews work in three to four person teams with up to several trucks per team.  To keep everyone safe, please drive at the appropriate speed to navigate carefully around the temporary work zones.”

As the snow melts and storm cleanup continues, drivers should also be on the lookout for fallen trees and standing water, remain alert when turning at intersections and be mindful of pedestrians.  Local jurisdictions are also continuing storm cleanup operations, therefore many sidewalks are not clear and pedestrians may be walking in travel lanes.

Customers may submit service requests for issues along State numbered routes by visiting the SHA website and submitting requests using the "Contact Us" link.
