Retired Tampa Police Captain Suspect In Deadly Pasco Theater Shooting

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office reports that the suspect in a deadly shooting Monday at the Cobb Grove 16 Theater in Wesley Chapel is a retired Tampa Police captain.

Sheriff Chris Nocco said that Curtis Reeves,71, was arrested and charged with second-degree homicide.

Investigators are calling the shooting an isolated incident.

They say two couples were at the theater watching previews for the movie the "Lone Survivor" when the shooting occurred. Reeves and his wife got into an argument with another couple who were sitting in front of them. The couple seated in front of him, Nichole and Chad Oulson were texting and Reeves asked him to stop several times.

You know what scares me? Men who solve problems, force their opinions or try to enforce their will with guns like Zimmerman.

People with guns shoot people. Police shoot people. Kids shoot their parents. Kids shoot up schools. Kids shoot themselves. Husbands shoot their wives. Gang members shoot other gang members and kids caught in the cross fire. Gun safety instructors shoot their students. Funny how law abiding citizens act exactly like gang members when armed. Its my way or no way or you will get shot.

You think every (law abiding citizen) should carry. Then be prepared to read more news like this arguments turn deadly.

11:35 if the "law abiding" texters had been carrying they could have stood down or defended themselves against the criminal cop.

To the liberal troll who posted about Zimmerman, this rogue sociopath cop was not being beaten up by a thug negro in a gated neighborhood that had been terrorized by the same.
Zimmerman did the right thing protecting his and his communities interests from a thug drug addicted burglar.

11:35 your comment is overly simplistic.

In Florida those texting who were shot had the ability to be carrying and to defend themselves.

In OweMalley land very few can carry and therefore are sitting ducks for any armed perp, even a retired police captain since licensed officers enjoy many privileges denied to regular citizens, even in retirement.

The theater situation is unfortunate; the 'more highly trained and responsible' person obviously lost it with tragic results.

To paraphrase Chris Rock on O.J. Simpson:
"I ain't sayin' I agree with what he did, but I understand!"
Cellphones kill.

No answer exists to the gun problem.See how simple that was.

11:35 urineidiot

Idiots shoot people. People who are too simple (weak minded) to either walk away, or work problems out without a physical altercation. This guy, who shot people over texts, or phone, is an idiot and should be exterminated.

11:35 you will probably be shot by a criminal and then your genes will be removed from the available gene pool. Nature has a way of eliminating the fools and their offspring.

Trayvon was a violent gang banger and got what he deserved.

He should get probation like the kid who killed 4 people while he was driving drunk.Personally I'd rather take my chances getting shot than being plowed into by a 4000 lb vehicle.

Considering today's media, I can't help but think there is more to this story. Might be completely wrong. But remember, little Trayvon was portrayed as a fresh-faced 12-year old kid skipping home with his Skittles, before the truth came out.
