Charges: Negligent Driving and Failure to Drive Right of Center

On the above date and time , Trooper’s responded to the intersection of RT 50 W/B at Walston Switch Road in reference to a single vehicle crash.

The investigation revealed that the Mitsubishi was traveling W/B RT 50 in lane 2 just prior to Walston Switch Road Parsonsburg, Wicomico County, Maryland. The Mitsubishi was being operated by the above driver, which had two other occupants. For unknown reasons, the Mitsubishi left the roadway to the right drove across the grass traffic island then crossed the entrance ramp to RT 50 W/B into a steep ditch crashing into a State Highway Administration (SHA) electrical signal box.

The driver and front seat passenger were transported to PRMC with minor injuries. The back seat passenger was not injured. Due to the damage done to the signal box, the entire Walston Switch Rd intersection lights were knocked out. Choptank Electric arrived on scene to cut the power, so that SHA could replace the entire signal box. W/B and E/B RT 50 are open but traffic is closed to cross the intersection until the signal box can be replaced. SHA officials advised that the lights should be operable around 7am.
