Delaware State Police Receives 8th Award For National Accreditation

Resume: Dover-The Delaware State Police are pleased to announce that they have met the requirements of a highly regarded and broadly recognized body of law enforcement standards, and were accredited for the eighth time by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) on November 16, 2013.

In April 2013 a team of CALEA assessors examined all aspects of the Delaware State Police Department’s policies, procedures, management, operations and support services. The assessors reviewed written materials and conducted interviews with troopers and members of the community to verify the department’s continued compliance. The Delaware State Police takes great pride in saying they are in compliance with over 460 standards. In the report, CALEA stated, “The agency’s recent accreditation award by the Commission is evidence of the Delaware State Police’s professional leadership and understanding of the importance of adherence to a body of standards for the purpose of continuous organization development and improvement. It was clear the Delaware State Police has institutionalized accreditation as management model, with a focus on remaining a highly professional public safety service provider.”

The Delaware State Police continued status as an accredited agency will assist the Division in meeting the needs of the citizens and visitors of the State of Delaware.
