DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate Assault and Abduction in Rehoboth
Location:
  • 18000 block of Munchy Branch Road, Rehoboth, DE
Date of Occurrence:       
  • Friday, August 23, 2013 at 1:35 a.m.
Victim:
  • 20-year-old female from Rehoboth, DE
Suspect:
  • Black male (no further physical or clothing description available).
  • No video surveillance available for release.
Resume:
Rehoboth – Troopers are investigating an assault and abduction that occurred early this morning.
The incident occurred at 1:35 a.m. as a 20-year-old Rehoboth woman walked her bicycle along the 18000 block of Munchy Branch Road. She was suddenly approached and assaulted by a black male who forced her into a vehicle, which was then driven towards Costal Highway.
 

When the vehicle reached the intersection of Munchy Branch Road and Costal Highway the victim exited the vehicle and ran to a nearby business, where bystanders contacted police.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released.
