Amy’s Army Pedals Toward A World Free Of MS At Bike MS: Bike To Bordeaux

On September 28 cyclists will enjoy well-supported routes, complimentary lunch and a finish line wine sampling to help create a world free of MS

Mt. Airy, MD-
. In 2010, Amy Gladfelter was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) -a chronic, disabling neurological disorder- at age 20. MS usually strikes in the prime of life, typically between 20 and 40 years old, affects significantly more women than men, and is the number one disabling neurological disease of young adults.

Last year, after seeing a brochure in a local coffee shop, Gladfelter decided to participate in Bike MS: Bike Bordeaux, challenging notions about what a multiple sclerosis diagnosis means.

“I feel this is important to come together as a community to support MS, as well as prove those with MS can be just as active as everyone else. With the medications I have now, I am optimistic about my future,” says Gladfelter.

This year Gladfelter will be riding with her team of friends and family, Amy’s Army, at Bike MS: Bike to Bordeaux at Linganore Winecellars on Saturday, September 28. Cyclists can choose to ride 16, 38 or 65 (all routes start/finish at Linganore Winecellars) miles on well-supported routes through the hilly countryside of Carroll and Frederick Counties. A complimentary lunch and wine sampling will be provided at the finish line.
