Commentary: More NSA disclosures cause loss of trust

Gen. Keith Alexander
“Who will guard the guards themselves?” is a Roman saying at least 1,800 years old.

Who will protect us from those who are supposed to protect us? That is the question that lingers after the disclosure of two programs that monitor the phone records and Internet use of millions of Americans by the National Security Agency, based at Maryland’s Fort Meade in Anne Arundel County.

Here is what Gen. Keith Alexander, the head of the NSA, told the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce on April 25.

“Our people take pride in protecting our civil liberties and our privacy,” Alexander said. “We can’t tell you how we do that.”

Alexander doesn't have to tell us --- someone else already has and the methods seem to be total, absolute, continuous, and pervasive monitoring and surveillance of every single American and millions of people across the planet. "...take pride in protecting our civil liberties..." is a quote that should have resulted in Alexander getting struck by lightning (while standing indoors). The NSA is a beast that has broken loose from its chain and now terrorizes its former master (we, the people). In AMERICA, we now have drones watching us from 40,000 feet, cameras taking our picture and storing it in a database that requires millions of square feet to accomodate, the NSA listening to and recording EVERY call, text and e-mail sent. Cross referencing and storing them FOREVER. Innocence? Privacy? Protection against "unreasonable" searches? Perhaps Alexander should read the Constitution instead of our e-mails and quit telling us what a great and angelic protector of our rights he is....a disgusting and sickening display of self-serving BS. Almost as bad as obama claiming its all "hype"....

Wow, I didn't believe you about the millions of square feet, so I looked it up.

Not only is it true, there is one place in Fort Meade, Md. that has 600,000 sq. Ft. to store this type of data.

2.5 BILLION dollars was the cost for these two SPYING warehouses.

I wonder, did the U.S. borrow those billions from China to build them? Heck, does China have an office in either one or both?

This is real people. This isn't some reality show.

Any of you still think some people are wearing tin foil?

I was referring to the 'spy' warehouses.
