Civil Liberties Oversight Board Meets Behind Closed Doors Today

The controversy over National Security Agency surveillance programs may revive a little-known advisory group. The Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board meets behind closed doors today for the first time since the leak. President Barack Obama has asked it to examine the NSA spy programs. The board began in 2004 as part of the executive branch. Congress made it independent four years later, but it's had trouble finding its rhythm. Chairman David Medine was confirmed in May after administrative delays and resistance from some lawmakers.

One paragraph from Wikipedia on who the Civil Liberties Oversight Board is. Quote: Recommended by the 9/11 Commission Report issued on July 22, 2004, the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board was initially established by the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004.[4] It consisted of five members appointed by the President. The Board was part of the Executive Office of the President and was supported by an Executive Director and staff.

Comment: All 5 members appointed by the president. Who's best interests do you think their judgements and recommendations will address and work for? The criminals they serve? or the citizenry they were supposed to look out for? Their real job and title should be, how to cover the a**es of a corrupt president and his corrupt administration but not get caught while silently removing the freedoms and liberties guaranteed by America's Constitution. This group is a "Let's cover our a** boys" group of unconstitutional leaning benders and eroders of our Constitution which guarantees our freedoms. The core of the political hierarchy in Washington D.C. is a collective group of foreign minded traitors, devoid of any and all signs of American patriotism.

11:52....SMACK THAT ACE!!! A board that is supposed to "look out" for OUR liberty and rights meets in PRIVATE to determine if anyone has violated these rights? MORE "transparency", huh? THEY don't "give" us rights, okay? GOD gives us rights and they better start getting that picture. Too many Americans have forgotten (if they ever even learned it) what this country is about -- personal freedom and individual liberty. We don't need their "permission" to speak, assemble, own guns, resist, revolt, publish, criticize, or worship. They are doing their best to convince us otherwise, however. One more generation and we will be done as a free country. And they know that, too.
