Passengers Returning To US After Cruise Ship Fire

BALTIMORE (AP) -- For the second time this year, a fire at sea has aborted a cruise ship's voyage. This time, aboard Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas and the ship's 2,200 passengers were expected back in Baltimore on Tuesday after being flown on charter flights from the Bahamas.

The fire that began at 2:50 a.m. Monday was extinguished about two hours later with no injuries reported. A cause wasn't immediately known but the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Transportation Safety Board planned to investigate.

The ship, which left Baltimore on Friday for a seven-night cruise, was headed originally to CocoCay, Bahamas. Royal Caribbean said the ship never lost power and was able to sail into port in Freeport, Bahamas, Monday afternoon. The ship launched in 1996 and was refurbished last year.

I was on a cruise ship heading back to New York when a rogue wave hit the side of the ship. With the impact involved it was a miracle that no serious injuries were sustained.Draw a line from 4 to 10 on the clock & you'll see how far the ship leaned when the app 90 foot wave hit.If the furniture in every part of the ship had not been bolted to the floor heaven knows how many would have been injured or killed. After about 2 hours we were clear to restart.I know that an act of god is not the cruise lines fault.

I do not believe all these "happenings" are accidental...certainly not an act of God as in the example above.

Speaking of boats, saw the new SBY fire boat out on the river yesterday. I didn't know if there was a fire, if this was training, or, they were just cruizin! My guess is joy riding.

Anon 8:49 - Are you saying that someone planned the rogue wave?

8:49-We are all curious.Where in your opinion did the rogue wave come from? What in your opinion caused it? To me,natural causes are acts of god.

That wasn't what he was saying at all. Some people really do have a reading comprehension problem.

Anon 10:57 - Is he saying that the cruise lines set their own ships on fire? I comprehend just fine.
