Salisbury rain tax

I see where single family tax payers and non governmental commercial properties will now be burdened by a rain tax calculated by the university of Maryland environmental finance center. I wonder if the city knows the makeup of that group, will you be giving that groups makeup and alliance at that meeting tonight.

Isn't that across the Bay for now? Not saying we won't see it in the future.

It doesn't affect Delmarva. Only big cities across the bridge.

anonymous 10:37, that's not true. Remember that $19,000,000.00 tax increase Ireton mentioned during the election, THAT is what it is for. Ireton volunteered participating with O'Malley's Rain Tax but all other Counties and Cities on the Shore refused to participate. Of course NONE of the other forms of media made any mention of that.

I should add, Ireton proposed it as a tax to help clean the river. He never mentioned it being called a rain tax.

What about all the commercial properties that were forced by the DNR and EPA to install stormwater retention ponds when they built their buildings? They don't have runoff.

As for all others, send Jimbo a blank, unsigned check with your account number torn off. Make it payable to "Article I, Section 9, Line 3, U.S. Constitution".

Why would we pay any rain tax from a study from a government sponsored school to begin with? How do we know they even know what they are doing? Remember the legal mess the University of MD, College Park caused???

Ireton lied to the taxpayers again. There will be two taxes or fees as he likes to call them now for all of us. Rain tax AND bay restoration. He is wasting the uncovered money, and increasing taxes on all of us to pay for the mess the city made of the water department. It is time for the EPA to take total control over this cities water department.
Let's not forget the tax Ireton is planning on raising for Comcast.

He is totally out of control. He has no knowledge, no experience Day, and Mitchell and Shields as his welfare recipients on the council, the honest taxpaying citizens are doomed.

Joe, if what you say is true and I suspect it is Salisbury just became less competitive!

If we citizens let these council nuts have these taxes, there will be no stopping them. Now is the time to stop these idiots.

This is one of those Agenda 21 Taxes. Day will be all over this and vote affirmatively. His Day job is all about advancing this horrible UN initiative.

Hope all the Day supporters enjoy the stabbing in the back they get with Day!
The people with sense tried to warn the rest of you....now look at WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.
