Man Charged With Stealing Gun From Hotel Room In Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Ocean City Police have arrested a man they say stole an off-duty law enforcer's handgun from a hotel room.

Police say a federal law enforcement officer who was staying at the Comfort Inn last week reported his off-duty .40 caliber handgun and several other items were missing from his room.

Ocean City police looked at hotel surveillance videos and identified a suspect. His description was broadcast to officers.

His off duty gun or his plant weapon?

Well, 458, report sez it was loaded, so not a "plant" weapon. Just an irresponsible gun owner that failed to put in a room safe or take it with him when he left the room. This is considered common practice among us responsible owners.

And, to continue, this is how criminals get unregistered guns without a background check. If that "officer" hadn't gotten back as soon as he did, that gun would have been sold by the time I'm typing this to who knows. Making law abiding citizens register their guns does nothing to prevent crime, criminals buy and sell stolen guns all day long!

How do you know it wasn't in a safe? Do all hotel rooms have safes? The suspect may have been an employee, who knows.
