Del. Mike McDermott Endorses Joe Albero For Mayor Of Salisbury

Salisbury is the economic engine for the lower shore. When Salisbury succeeds the entire Lower Shore succeeds. Unfortunately, for too long, a few political leaders in Salisbury believe that government should lead the way, that over-regulation is a good thing and that entrepreneurs and private employers are the enemy. I fight this battle in Annapolis at the State level all the time. Economic prosperity does not come from the government, but from individuals, entrepreneurs and the private sector.

Salisbury needs a new leader with a new vision of economic prosperity. A vision that is not reliant on government spending, higher taxes and burdensome regulations.

My friend Joe Albero is running for Mayor. He comes from the private sector, has a record of accomplishment and understands how to attract and create jobs for Salisbury. And, most importantly, he knows how to build consensus.

He is the best candidate to move Salisbury forward. He is the best person to help restore Salisbury as an economic leader for the Lower Shore.

Joe Albero has my full support and I encourage you to vote for him for Mayor on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

With best regards,
Delegate Mike McDermott

When an outsider endorced Day, it was wrong. But this is o.k.?

Always a McDermott fan and this just confirms my reasoning.
Comparing Mike to a national realtors association seems a tad of a leap, dontcha think?

8:23 I take it your a left wing liberal democrat who supports Day/Ireton

This is exactly why as a more center registered Republican who votes both parties and isn't much focused on social issues, I respect above all others Del McDermott. He voices his opinions without waiting to see which way the wind is blowing.
He is not a politician which is a negative description. He is a man of principle, honesty and integrity.

823 - Yes it is because Mike McDermott has more sense than anyone who would endorse Fake Day.

Anonymous said...

He's not an outsider, he's our representative.

Two of a kind!!!

8:23 Any and all members of the MD General Assembly are not "outsiders" whether they directly represent us or not, because the way any and all vote, directly affects all of us.
So the answer to your question is a resounding "YES" it is okay because in no way shape or form nor in anyone's stretch of the imagination can Del McDermott be considered an "outsider."

Awesome will the DTs post this ?

Mike McDermott is not an outsider!! He is a Maryland State Delegate that represents Wicomico County and it's municipalities. You are a liberal idiot that obviously doesn't know politics. Can you say DUH!!

A lot better supporter than the DAILY TIMES.

Actually, he's not Salisbury's representative. He is an outsider.

DTs = THE DAILY WHINES.

Mike McDermott is from the Eastern Shore and does not stand to gain financially from supporting Joe.

The realtors - the NATIONAL group and its members -- and the developers and landlords all supporting Jake Day stand to gain financially.

THAT is the difference, 8:23. If you don't understand that, stay away from government.

McDermott is not an out of state outsider like Day's supporters. McDermott is a local easternshoreman that fights for us on a daily basis. You are comparing apples to oranges. Must be a liberal.

Let's see who would I want to endorse me for anything, Barrie Parsons Tilghman or Mike McDermott? Gee whiz, that's a tough one. NOT!!!! I trust McDermotts opinion far more than I do Tilghmans, at least he's not offering to give away 38B like Tilghman did Salisbury.

I am a City of Salisbury voter and Delegate McDermott is my representative and I voted for him. Please go tell your lies somewhere else.

He isn't an outsider at all. He as well as every other representative from MD vote on things that directly effect Salisbury and the whole rest of the state. His representation is not limited to just his district. That's only who elects him. The decisions he makes have statewide effects.
He just doesn't vote on things solely pertaining to his district.

Maryland House of Delegates

DELEGATES BY DISTRICT

DISTRICT 38B (Wicomico & Worcester Counties)
Norman H. Conway (D)
Michael A. McDermott (R)

----

Oh look what I found!! Norman Conway must be an outsider as well!!

The stupid clowns supporting Jake Day don't know the first thing about local politics. Stupid is as stupid does. I bet Jake Day made some of the comments about Delegate McDermott being an outsider.

Questions for Jake Day. When was the last time you attended a city work session? When was the last time you attended a City Council meeting? How many of each?

Answer: Closer to Zero!

Debbie Campbell and Joe Albero are the best candidates for Salisbury.

Well sure McDermott is an outsider--TO A KENT COUNTY RESIDENT. But to those of us who actually live in Salisbury City we know that he is OUR representative.

11:54 AM 11:43 AM, 11:42 AM, 11:27 AM 9:54 AM Joe all your comments seems as if you are upset - don't get so upset, stop and think - Will McDermott vote for you? Did McDermott donate to your campaign? No, ok then - if he won't vote for you or donate, I won't either, but I will support your right to run.

He is a man of principle, honesty and integrity. March 29, 2013 at 9:16 AM Yep, just like Joe

Mike McDermott, as mayor of Pocomoke, left his city in good shape.

Barrie Tilghman, as mayor of Salisbury, damn near buried her city in a river of poo in more ways than one.

Barrie Tilghman endorsed Jake Day, who will continue her policies to give Salisbury away to cronies and slumlords. Jake Day endorsed Jim Ireton and Jim Ireton endorsed Jake Day. Jake Day is endorsed by BIG MONEY OUT OF CHICAGO!

Mike McDermott, an honorable man, endorsed Joe Albero. Everyday people who LIVE in Salisbury endorse Debbie Campbell.

This says it all!

12:25--what kind of convoluted thought process makes you attribute anonymous comments from blog readers as actually coming from Albero? The "anger" in the comments comes from real city residents who actually have skin in the game, and KNOW who truly has their best interests at heart--and that isn't jim Ireton of Jacob Day. And bless your litle mercenary heart--you only think something is valid or worthwhile if there is some money donation involved, now that is a typical slumlord mentality if there ever was one.

Yep he sure is 12:25 and don't you ever forget it. He not the typical sleazeball politician that tells you one thing to your face and does the complete opposite. He tells you even if it's not what you want to hear. He comes out immediately on an issue and doesn't wait to see how the wind is blowing or how the votes are going before offering his stance.

After Day and the national realtors relocate all the people in district 1's westside, the developers will cash in big time on those river front properties on west main street. Shanie is either not smart enough to see this coming or she's got a hand in making money from relocation of her own constituents. That's how it was done by the Koch brothers in the inner harbor of Baltimore, they relocated all the slum housing to the John's Hopkins area and cashed in big time with what is now Baltimore's inner harbor. Read the writting on the wall west side and get out and vote to keep your homes that you have invested in over the decades. Don't let the smooth talkers make you move so they can cash in on your misfortune.

9:16am- very well spoken and I totally agree with you. Mike is an honest trustworthy person and I respect him.

I believe Mr. Albero will move Salisbury forward for ALL citizens and will treat the taxpayers with respect. That is so much more than Ireton ever did and so much more than Jake Day can even dream of doing.

I have heard more and more stories about Jake Day and believe me, I don't like the things I'm hearing. He has been caught in so many lies and when confronted he is cockey and arrogant. He tries to portray himself as knowledgeable to the young set but actually he doesn't know anything about the city politics other than throwing out catch phrases to garner attention. He is ill- prepared to spend our hard earned tax dollars for his realtor-cohorts acquisitions of our property. Some of these young adults that are voting for him have been feed a much of his lies and they actually believe them. This is very sad and is wrong. They don't have the background or historical knowledge to know enough not to vote for Day based on what has been happening in this city.

Ms. Campbell is the best possible candidate to do the job. She has saved the taxpayers millions that Ireton hide and then tried to raise taxes to get more money he could waste.

How many times do we have to pay for the waste water treatment plant?? Ireton's failure for not paying attention to all the details.

In fact, there isn't anything that can be listed that Ireton himself has actually accomplished for this city except reduce it to slumlords.

I question why was Day allowed by the police to get so many speeding tickets in the first place? If it was anyone else, their license would be suspended. The man is a liability and if he is elected, prepare yourselves, we will be paying law suits to cover his actions.

Albero/Campbell both need to be elected into office to get this city turned around and eliminate the sneaky backdoor politics that have gone on here for so long.

It's time for clean air for Salisbury. It's time to vote for Albero and Campbell.

You all better vote for Albero/Campbell or you will find yourselves in the same mess the taxpayers and residents of Ocean City are in. Thanks to Stooge voters and the "new direction" "new majority" they voted in a bunch of what amounts to no more than know nothings and are finding themselves faced with an over 4 million defict.
Read the editorial in today's Ocean City Today Newspaper.
All I can say it is the morons leading the imbeciles except for Ashley and Pillas.

"Jake Day is endorsed by BIG MONEY OUT OF CHICAGO!"

Wait, isn't that in ILLINOIS? Don't they buy and sell government positions there? This isn't Chicago or P.G. County. We don't do things that way here.

Folks this election is a story straight from the bible...the story of good overcoming evil.

The heavy-handed lies being told about Ms. Campbell and Mr. Albero are just untrue. These are honest, hard-working people for the citizens of Salisbury that won't do you harm.

It's about time to end the bad politics and vote for Albero/Campbell, people who you can trust.

"morons leading the imbeciles except for Ashley and Pillas." A little misleading I must say. The Hall boys have made a mess of that town. My favorite was when they awarded Coke a contract for the Dew (Pepsi) tour with the argument being they saved the town $56k. Give them some time to recover from that era as well as replace Ashley and Pilas.

It's not up to the police. They are just goons who write the tickets. The courts and DMV have the say on guilt or innocence and act accordingly. Unless it has changed, one is allowed to accumulate 12 points before their license is suspended/revoked. And they call you in for counseling before you reach the magic number of 12.

That's why we have courts and other intelligent individuals to make these decisions. SOME people just don't understand law and fair play. That's why we have to be ever vigilant against those one-trick ponies.

Anonymous said...

You are wrong, 840. When the town saw a windfall during the real estate boom, Pillas along with Hall and Hall being the only ones with any sense, knew it wasn't prudent to spend it just because it was there. Dare as city manager was also spending like a drunken sailor. Since at that time they weren't in the majority they lost the battles and unnecessary money was spent instead of stockpiled.
Your comment couldn't be more incorrect if you tried. The mess is the 4million plus deficit the town is facing.
You are an example of why the country is in the mess it is in. You are quite uninformed as to what is going on and the reality of it all. Go educate yourself!
As far as the Coke contract that saved the town money so what's your problem with that? Why is that your "favorite?"

Anonymous said...

I was reading in the ocean city paper how they moved public comments to the beginning of the meetings. Of all the idiotic things a council can do this takes the cake. The only reason for ever doing something like this is because they can't take and do not want to hear criticism.
They used to be called the Silly Council years ago. It's gone beyond that now. They are doing everything within their power to shut out the public. The integrity of these people is in the toliet.

Anonymous said...

8:40-The reality is is that OC should be flush with money and not facing any kind of deficit and had Dare as the city manager and the council majority at the time listened to Pillas and the Halls Ocean City would not be faced with this very serious problem.
Responsible officials do not spend like they did. Now they are scrambling around looking for ways to impliment new fees and taxes on people including the tourists. If not for the irresponsiblity of those people this would not even have to be a discussion.

Anonymous said...

I thought this was about McD endorsing A. What does this other crap have to do w/ running for SBY mayor? OC belongs in separate posting

Anonymous said...

It belongs here 8:49 because it's an example of what occurs when people fail to elect not only fiscally responsible but responsible officials in general.

Anonymous said...

8:49 Ocean City troubles belong here because their mayor and some of the council are a prime example of what happens when people who are elected are clueless as to things like basic economics, budgets and finances. Joe operated businesses and knows that just because something is coming in doesn't mean you have to spend it. Debbie has proven that she does watch every cent so why would anyone dream of replacing her.

Anonymous said...

8:49 Mentioning Ocean City is very relvant for anything concerning Salsibury because it may prevent some from being suckered into a "new Day" as people in Ocean City were suckered into a "new direction."
All the strife on these councils are because some are fiscally responsible and some are not. The ones who aren't, claim it's a council of "no's" when in fact they are just looking out for the wallet of the community and that is why they say no. They turn it around on who in reality are the "good guys" and the voters are suckered right into the game.
That's exactly what happened in Ocean City so Salisbury should take heed before they are facing millions in deficits.
