If paying these fees and jumping through all these hoops will deem one safe and competent to own a handgun then that same said person should be able to carry that same gun on his or her person in both public and private!

Reduction of magazines from 20 to 10 rounds, am I reading this right? And what the heck is an Assault Pistol? I don't know who is proposing this bill, but I know 29 out of 30 pages are nothing but LOAD OF CRAP. NO AND NO.

NO NEW GUN LAWS IN MD.

7.2 million in motivation for the liberal progressive communists! Nothing more.
It has been statistically proven gun control does not stop violent behavior of criminals and only serves to leave law abiding citizen's in danger.

Joe. Please post the names of our local representatives and how they voted on this bill. A yes vote from them will be a no vote from me.

what gets me a drivers license has to be shown but I guess the store clerk must be blind or he cant make out its you. why not have to give your finger prints to get a drivers license

Start getting signatures to put it on the ballot. That worked out so good the last election.

Better yet, Explain how me jumping through said hoops and paying said fee to own a gun, saves lives?

You do know, people where dying way before guns exist? You do know you HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DIE EVENTUALLY?
You do know that cars, knives, rocks, fist, bats and all other types kill people?

So again I ask, what does me paying 100 bucks a year or every 5 to have a piece of plastic which says I can own a gun save lives?

Exactly, it doesn't and won't...

Time to move to Delmar DELAWARE.

So all these gun control bills got started after the mass shootings at Sandy Hook and the theater shooting. Can someone tell me please if these gun control measures that they just voted on were in effect then would it have changed anything? I think this is just another way for the state to make money.

All this will do is make money for the Dems, make it easier for the criminals to inflict their evil deeds on the innocent, make it harder for law abiding citizens to have firearms for defense and sport, and it will increase dramatically the number of "criminals" over night. (I'll spell it out for trolls on here that can't form an original thought.) What were once law abiding citizens will now become criminals since they won't bow down to this unconstitutional law!

I read the attache bill

# of firearm transferred (ie, sold)
2011 was 39,682
2012 was 53,444 - mainly in December

This is how Maryland predicts it will make money.

DSP estimates a total of 85,051 firearms sales in the State in fiscal 2014; 92,798 in
fiscal 2015; 100,544 in fiscal 2016; 108,291 in fiscal 2017; and 116,038 in fiscal 2018.
DSP also assumes a similar growth rate in sales through fiscal 2023 at an annual growth
rate of about 9%.

Do they not understand that people are buying them now, thus causing this run of sales, so they wont have to buy them later. I don't believe the numbers are going to go up like they are predicting, I suspect the opposite.

Jim Mathias voted against this bill. Oh well he needs to pay the price for the mistake of his party at the ballot box

Criminals don't follow laws. So any argument to create a legal impediment to owning guns only leads to more law abiding citizens to be without protection.

The projected sales are a joke, unless things continue to get that much worse. And they are so heavily loaded with revenue at the end of the 5 year budget term that they can spend more today and still have a balanced budget further off down the road on paper, even though it is not realistic.

So...is the state lying about their understanding of how bad things will be going in to 2018, or are they lying about creating an actual balanced budget? Either outcome is bad for you and me.

they clearly already had the votes, he only voted no, because he didnt NEED to vote yes. same thing KRATOVIL did on healthcare bill

Can we say good bye to Baretta? They will leave Maryland if this passes. Those with jobs there may want to pull out their resumes. Another company gone from this state due to policy. I use to be proud of this state, lived here all my life, now I am looking to move. North Carolina is looking better all the time!

really 2:55 ! Senator Mathias is the most effective elected offical working for us in Annapolis, he gets things done without all the ranting and raving and he realizes what those things are used for attached to your head, LISTENING, not telling me how I should be living like the brown pants one !

There is language in this bill that has already been deemed UNCONSTITUTIONAL in court.
O'Malley's propagandist authors chose to leave the "good and substantial reason to carry" statement in the bill.
God help the mercenaries that try to enforce it.

This is dead in the water before it is even signed into law.

Wicomico County is going to do the same thing to Jim Mathias that they did to Kratovil.

Senator Mathias is just as anti gun and pro abortion and anti farmer as Norm Conway. They are democrats and they need to be voted OFF the shore.

The work to send them both packing has already started.

Supporters see the licensing provision as the centerpiece of the governor's bill and the one they believe would be most effective in reducing gun violence. Experts have told lawmakers that states with strict licensing laws have lower rates of gun deaths, in part because requiring a license makes it less likely someone will buy a firearm on a criminal's behalf. - THEY MUST HAVE FORGOT ABOUT ILLINOIS

6:49 pm, please do youself a favor and check Senator Mathias record before you start ranting that he is anti gun or anti farm. Don't be ignorant all your life.
