Arnold Woman Gets House Arrest For $100K Theft Scheme

ANNAPOLIS - An Arnold woman was sentenced to six months of house arrest and ordered to pay back the nearly $100,000 she bilked from an insurance company by falsely claiming her young son was hospitalized more than a dozen times.

Shirley Rae Owens, 30, of Club Road, who had no criminal history, will be on five years probation after she serves the time.

The sentenced was handed down by Judge William C. Mulford II in county Circuit Court in Annapolis on Thursday.

Who will pay the mortgage during the 6 months she is under house arrest?Did the honorable Judge Mulford figure that out? What about her car payment and utilities. If, say her house is foreclosed on during this time frame, will she serve the remainder of it in jail? will the court foot all of her expenses?
