Incident: Assault on a Deputy / Obstruct and Hinder
Date of Incident: 27 September 2010
Location: Pemberton Drive and Parsons Road, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Tennyson Winfred Evans, 23, Delmar, DE

Narrative: On 27 September 2010
at 9:52 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle operated by Tennyson Evans of Delmar, DE in the parking lot of the 7-11 in the 500 block of Salisbury Parkway for a criminal investigation. During the subsequent interview, Evans became evasive in his answers to the deputy and was later found to have provided false personal information.

During a pat down for weapons, Evans pushed the deputy away and began to flee on foot towards the intersection of Pemberton Drive and Parsons Road. An extensive effort was undertaken to locate Evans but he managed to elude apprehension.

During the search, deputies learned that Evans was wanted in the State of Delaware on Burglary and Felony CDS Possession.

The investigating deputy obtained a warrant for the arrest of Evans and he was recently located in Delaware and detained there by Delaware authorities. A deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office extradited Evans back to Wicomico County from Delaware on 29 August 2012 and transported him to the Central Booking Unit upon return. After an initial appearance, the District Court Commissioner detained Evans in the Detention Center in lieu of $25,000.00 bond.

False Statement to an Officer

Incident: Assault on a County D.O.C. Employee
Date of Incident: 28 August 2012
Location: 201 Baptist Street, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Ronald Brooks, 69, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 28 August 2012
a correctional officer from Wicomico County was engaged in placing Ronald Brooks into restraints prior to transportation to the Detention Center when Brooks began spitting in the face of the officer. The officer took steps to restrain Brooks from further assault upon the officer and completed his task.

The officer was treated at a local facility for exposure to bodily fluids.

A warrant for assault on the correctional officer was obtained and Brooks was served on the warrant the following day. After presentation to the District Court Commissioner, the Commissioner detained Brooks in the Detention Center without bond.
