PSC Approves Rate Hikes For Pepco, Delmarva

Maryland regulators on Friday rejected a large portion of the Potomac Electric Power Company's request for a 4 percent rate increase, citing the company's history of substandard performance.

The Maryland Public Service Commission rejected $50 million of the $68 million increase requested by the company. The $18.1 million increase approved by regulators amounts to a $2.02 rise in a typical residential monthly bill, the PSC said. The company's full request would have meant a $5.56 increase per month.

Like our rates with Delmarva power are not enough. I wish I could have Pepco rates.

The power companies need massive regulation.

There was regulation in Maryland until the liberal Democrats voted otherwise in 1997. That's when Conectiv witch wse the old Delmarva Power wanted to enter the HVAC business. They did, and lost 40 million bucks of rate payers money in 4 years. The name is now back to Delmarva Power because local ratepayers didn't feel all warm and fuzzy about paying their bill to Pepco. When you pay your electric bill it goes to Pepco because they own DP&L.
