MARCH 22ND COMMUNITY FORUM POSTPONED

March 21, 2012 -- The Office of the County Executive regrets that tomorrow’s meeting (March 22nd) at the Civic Center has been postponed. An emergency meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow afternoon in Annapolis with top legislators in the House of Delegates to discuss HB 1412 and the negative effects of maintenance of effort rebasing.

County Executive Pollitt is hopeful that tomorrow’s meeting will convince the House leadership that while he shares their commitment to support education funding to the maximum affordable extent, the current proposal before the legislature will be devastating to Wicomico County’s fiscal health. Pollitt will be accompanied by Director of Administration Wayne Strausburg, County Attorney Ed Baker, Director of Finance Andrew Mackel, and Public Information Officer Tamara Lee-Brooks.

The proposed legislation before the General Assembly would cause a more than $14 million gap in next year’s operating budget; something Pollitt maintains cannot be resolved without extreme and virtually unworkable measures on the county’s part.

There is absolutely no reason this cant be voted on or polled thru a neutral party.....you know bloody well those that want this cant be trusted.

We're in the best of hands when the high priced, high powered folks on the third floor can't even read a calendar!!
