Attorneys for Monica Hussing, 37, and William Robinson Sr., 40, had said the parents had financial problems and tried to get checkups for their son but could not afford it.

I don't like the fact that it seems they did not seek medical treatment but at the same time I realize how expensive medical treatment is even when you have insurance. I think our health insurance system here in the States is just very screwed up. If it is even at all possible for somebody to be left to die because they don't have the money to seek medical treatment, then there is a major problem.

It was senseless because most states have a pretty generous income threshold for childrens health insurance programs.
