Gay Couples Lose Big On Tax Breaks Because Their Marriages Aren't Recognized

Gay couples whose marriages aren't viewed as legitimate by the federal government have to pay heavily due to the indignity. Same-sex couples reportedly pay as much as $6,000 more a year in taxes because they aren't allowed to file jointly.

Why should gays get special treatment ? Tax breaks should be for normal families raising normal healthy children.

Lost what? They weren't married before and they aren't married now. How does that equate to losing something? All they have is more fantasies.

A couple who is legal should have the same rights color, sex or lack there of are issues that people push let us be a fair country to all I should even have to write this but being nonmarried for over 20 makes created news stories/issues a drag for those of us who want to read real news not tabloid

They aren't married. They can't file jointly. End of story! They choose, they have the right to do so BUT it ISN'T MARRIAGE! Period! Marriage isn't Adam and Steve. Sorry for you if you think it is.

5:44- Based on the numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors, I can only assume that you are an idiot, and the context of your message proves it.

First of all, Eastern Shore troglodytes, you aren't making an educated point just because you're typing a word in all caps. Second, this isn't about special treatment, it's about equal rights. And 5:05, gay couples are just as capable of raising "normal" children as heterosexual couples are capable of raising ones that are f'ed up ... I mean, look at 5:44! And before you grasp at straws, I didn't vote for Obama or sell my soul to the Devil.

One of the few things the government has right.....marriage is a religious institution not a government one. If they were to recognize 'same-sex-civil-unions' and give them the same rights - I'm OK with that. Forcing a religious principle's name on something that most religious folks would refer to as an abomination (it's biblical) is wrong!

Religion doesn't own the word "marriage" anymore than Catholic's own the word "church".

ever heard of HOLY MATRIMONY? that doesnt mean "in obama we trust."

what people ALWAYS miss in this debate is there are NO rights being taken away! gays can marry whomever they like JUST LIKE EVERYONE else...as long as it's of the opposite sex as marriage is defined. im straight and i can not marry another man. so my rights are equal to gays rights. simple.
