Effects Of Physical Discipline Linger For Adults

(CNN) -- Tara grew up thinking that spankings or a smack on the arm were normal punishments for breaking a plate or playing her music too loudly. She never knew what would set her father off, and her mother never intervened, so she did her best to avoid him, walking on eggshells whenever he was around.

There is a difference in spanking and beating. The judge beat his daughter repeatedly with a belt, not once, twice, but probably twenty times. That's beating, that's abuse. Spanking you're child, does nothing more but hurt their feelings, it doesn't really hurt them. For all those out there that believe you shouldn't smack you're two year old on the butt or hand, when they're still in your capability of being corrected, good luck when they're fourteen or fifteen and entering the criminal justice system.

Amen. I agree with you all. The lack of constructive disipline is apparent in our society today. If the system worked, we would be tearing down prisons not building more. Our society lacks morality, integrity and respect thanks to the nut cases that decided it should be illegal to spank children as it would destroy their self esteem.
