Busy Night In The Bury....Including The Plaza

SPD responded to Liberty St. in Salisbury in refference to a large fight with shots fired. Upon their arrival they immediately requested all available units from MSP and WCSO to help disperse a crowd of approx 100 people who were fighting. A responding MSP trooper wrecked a patol car at the Rt. 13 overpass while responding but he wasn't injured. O.C. spray was deployed, a deputy sheriff was assaulted which lead to the suspect being quickly assisted to the ground and arrested. Many arrests were made.

As soon as the officers were clearing from that call, they were dispathced to the "Azul" club on the downtown plaza in reference to a fight. Upon arrival officers observed as many as 75 people fighting - many of whom were gang members. OC was again deployed and the crowd dispersed. I was apparent to the officers that the bouncers were overwhelmed by the size and behavior of the crowd. Again this required the response of SPD, WCSO, and MSP.

Also the SPD never got a call for the fight on the plaza. The duty officer actually saw it happen on the monitors inside the SPD communication center from the camera's on the Plaza. At that time officer's where sent.

This will bring the holiday shoppers down town.

10:09 - That's the do nothing form of government in action - rather try to throw renters out of town and waste money on buildings no one wants than help create a wholesome town environment.

10:41 - To shop where? Smart businesses have already fled.

It will only get worse as the economy continues to tank.

Private clubs are going to be the way to go for safety and control over what clientele you wish to cater to.

11:14 call it what you want but it's owned by the same people and it attracts the same crow. A rose by any other name.....well you get the picture. The fact is that any time you draw a large crowd or young blacks you have trouble. No offense intended...this is a fact. Ask any law enforcement officer. Statistics are statistics.

If we got a new police chief this would have been cleaned up.

Think maybe stop selling booze with in the city limits might help.

Salisbury is over run with these hoodlum gangs,,,The police will soon not be able to control the streets..The gangs are taking over..I rode thru the plaza area today, cutting across town..There were 5 black men standing there passing something to each other....wonder what that was???? It is a shame that Salisbury is being taken over......Whan I was a chils the plaza was the place to go to visit Santa...Boy. you better be armed to even ride thru there now...People sleeping all over the benches....Sitting in the flower beds..using the flower beds as a restroom...People we gotta come up with a plan to take our streets back...It is one of the most unsafe places in the world....Wake up people!!!!!!!!

2:12, I live here and never have any issue.... stop spreading rumors about it being so dangerous.

I always thought the plaza would make a nice place like Fells point but if they tried it now there would be gun fights every night.

But I think we need free parking, that will bring the right type of people downtown, RIGHT

free parking and real stores... the plaza was a great place in the 60's

Empty your clip into the crowd and run like hell.

Should let them fight til the end. Take survivors to jail. Others to morgue.

Re: 5:00pm. Do some research regarding the crime rate in the city of Salisbury before you accuse anyone of spreading rumors. Hint (fact): Salisbury has a very high crime rate. Ignorance isn't always bliss!

I like the FREE parking idea, what happen to all those stories you were running on parking downtown Joe?????

Salisbury is bad but its good at the same time. It's like any other place in America, you have your good spots and bad spots. Yes gangs are becoming a force to reckon with in Salisbury and its only because the Police don't want to admit they are stretched thin as well as city officials don't want to address the issues about taking time and energy/money to those "Undesired" communities and giving those people of that community stuff to do as a community and help promote safety and awareness and better living. As for downtown Salisbury it is not as dangerous as everyone is hearing and talking about. People make it out to be like Downtown Salisbury is worse then Brooklyn N.Y. or Compton C.A. when it fact its really not. I myself on many of occasions have walked around and sat on those very benches spoke about at all times of the day and night and never have had one bad thing happen. I'm a white kid that still see's the beauty in Salisbury and what it has to offer at hours when others are sleeping and unaware of whats really going on outside and missing out on. So people just remember your gonna have those bad seeds that stick out and try to ruin things for everyone else but they usually don't last and only believe one percent of what you hear from people and 99 percent of what you see and know first hand. Gossip changes down the line but facts live on.

The police need to walk with their dogs and let them loose during the fights!
