BALTIMORE (WJZ) — While many cities across the nation are privatizing services, the city of Baltimore is doing the opposite to get more streets re-paved. Mary Bubala reports the city purchased a brand new piece of equipment to take care of business.
This is what $120,000 can buy: a new paver to smooth over rough city streets.
There are plenty of them in Baltimore and the city says the investment is paying off. For every mile paved, the city is saving about $10,000 over what it would pay a contractor.

I would certainly like to see the methodology they used. It's hard to believe that government can beat private enterprise.(I guess that's how you spell methodology)
The methodology is quite simple. Private sector is in it for a protit, while government is not. People that perform this type of work for local government, are generally payed much less than their counterparts in private sector. Also, once trained on the equipment, the local government employee will probably do a better job since they will just have to fix it if it falls apart, whereas, private sector will cut corners to further add to their profit margin.
