Have You Been To The Store Yet?

It's looking like our weather could be pretty messy from Monday night into Wednesday.

A low moving across the south and off the coast of the Carolinas will move up the coast and eventually
merge with another low coming from Kentucky/Tennessee.  These two systems will interact,
putting our area in the squeeze between them.

Depending, of course, on the track of the two systems, we could get significant snow, but it is looking more
likely that we will get a mix to the south and snowier conditions to the north of our area.

The possibility of freezing rain/sleet is certainly there, and we will definitely need to be prepared.  Ice frequently prunes our
trees (and cuts our power..), so you'll want to be ready.

The roads may still be a mess on Wednesday as the very cold air behind the storm arrives.

We will keep you informed.

We have all necessary supplies and a brand new snowblower...Bring it on!!!

We'll see more of a mix with this system, which is worse than snow. An icy mix that frezes after the storm is more dangerous than an all snow event. Be careful of slipping and falling.

Just remember, plows can't plow ice. If there is ice on the roads wed. blame God. Not plows.

You cant plow ice but you can use salt or sand to aid traction. I know....I know.... that costs money. God forbid the county be good at one of the most straight forward tasks known to man. I see Delaware pretreats roads. Here in the high tax land I have yet to even see salt on a county road, intersection or anywhere for that matter. It costs money to salt but it also costs to continuously have to plow the same road due to blowing snow and ice. Salt helps take care of that and it aids traction.

7:22, blah, blah, blah. You have no clue. Also, in the same sentence, you are complaining about taxes. lol. Regarding Delaware, you are comparing a state agency to a county government. apples/oranges. How about people just drive like they have sense? Oh yeah, it is easier to blame others for their own shortcomings.

Why don't they use a salt sand mix. Sand can't be very expensive on the shore.

7:22, if you have never seen salt on a county road, you are either blind, or live under a rock. Also, salt doesn't do anything for blowing snow. (not sure I have ever seen ice blow, so I can't comment on that)

Most states pre-treat roads before the storm hits. Other states wait until storm is over before they do anything to roads.

Which state would you rather travel in?

If the county uses salt I havent seen any on my county road. I guess now the excuse will be that only certain county back roads are salted? When I say Delaware pretreats Im talking about Sussex county. I live on the border and they spray brine salt to aid in keeping the road easy to plow due to the snow never freezing. I know that everything around here is done perfectly though so Im sure you'll have some excuse for that too.

Having moved here from the midwest, salt helps clearing any snow or ice covered road. It prevents it from sticking to the roads which makes it easier to plow. How is this not a widely known fact?

While many are in a rush to dig themselves out of snow, I kinda like a few days of being snowed in with my family. I know many of us don't get paid for snow days but its worth it being with my son.
I finally went shapping since the last snow storm and I am ready!

8:05, your an idiot. 90% of the roads in sussex county are maintained by DELDOT. DELDOT is the state idiot. Get your facts right, then talk to me. Back roads? No excuses, back roads don't get salted. Maybe you should have done your homework BEFORE you bought your house. If you don't like it, move to Delaware. Then you can be like the rest of the caravan heading towards maryland everyday to work.

8:09, it is a widely known fact. It is also a widely know fact that a college eduation is better that just a highschool education, or that private school is better that public school. The difference is being able to AFFORD it, and the taxpayers being willing to AFFORD it.
