I just checked mine and it was not enabled ...so the "automatically enabled" part is not true.
I've been saying this is not true and quite frankly I'm tired of people posting it repeatedly on Facebook before they even bother to check their own settings first! Should you regularly check your settings, you bet! But don't go posting this stuff if you don't know what you're talking about folks! Glad to see you put the "not confirmed" disclaimer on their Joe!
Mine was ENABLED and I have never been to that part of my Settings before. I unchecked the box very quickly! So you better check it if you care about your privacy!!!
Also, this option has been there forever. If you go to FoxNews or CNN and see "this person shared this article" then your box was checked. It's been there for quite some time.

I, too, just checked mine and it WAS enabled. If you have a Facebook account, check it just to be safer than sorry.
better yet don't waste you time on facebook!
Checked my account, the box was NOT checked.
It took a bit of wading thru to get to that point, however. Including an ad screen touting the so-called benefits of checking that box.

Anyone who posts personal information on ANY website is a fool!
Who runs facebook? What's to stop them from releasing everything you put on THEIR survers?
Justs a promise from them that they won't?
