The Fruitland Chamber of Commerce will be having a forum for the city council candidates (Monday) evening at 7 PM, at Fruitland City Hall .
There are seven candidates running:
1. Charles E. Carroll, Jr.
2. Edwin A. Cowell
3. Joseph T. Jimmerson
4. Darlene Kerr
5. Kerry R. Nelson
6. Charles Nichols
7. Richard Lee Outen, Jr.
This may be the only opportunity for the citizens to learn what these people stand for.The election will be held Monday, October 4th at City Hall.

They are good choices. If it wasn't for Richard Outen going into the last budget hearing armed with facts and suggestions, our water rates would be even higher now. He earned my vote. It will great to have some fresh minds on their that can hopefully say no.
Let's see, Cowell ran before with a pretty good showing. Good man! Ms. Kerr has two sons working in the Fruitland Police Department. She would never be able to vote on anything involving her two sons, including employee salaries and benefits, which are included in each annual budget. With a tie vote, she couldn't break the tie so no budget could be passed. That should work well! Richard Lee Outen was the young man who did his homework and gave an alternative suggestion to the council before they increased the sewer and water bills more than what they actually did. He'd do well. Mr. Nelson is making enemies every day by bullying anyone trying to interfere with his plans to take over Fruitland. It will be fun to watch him play Mr. Nice Guy! Citizens should definitely show up for the show tonight and see what all the candidates have to say and vote with wisdom on election day.
My vote will go to Lee Outen. He is a good man, very smart and will work hard for Fruitland. Ed Cowell also. Maybe he can get the college students under control.

Cowell and Jimmerson never showed up. Thanks to the Fruitland Chamber of Commerce for hosting this event. Fruitland is the nice little town that Salisbury used to be.
Curious about Mr. Nelson...claims to have a degree in mechanical engineering yet says "ain't" and "cain't" about a dozen times at the candidates forum tonight. Is he a college grad for real or is he just talking down to the folks in Fruitland ?
