There was a motorcycle accident yesterday just west of the Harley Davidson Shop in Ocean City on Rt. 50. Folks, this is the final day of Bike Week. Please drive defensively and watch out for motorcycles.

Thank God it is almost over. The roads have been horrible with the bikers thinking they own the road.
The Bikers are filling Hotel Rooms everywhere, spending millions of dollars in gas, food and other merchandise in this state.
Quit your bellyaching and move to the western shore. Then you'll see what traffic is really like ON A DAILY BASIS.
Better yet, ban all events here on the Eastern Shore and let them raise your taxes through the roof.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but as a truck driver, daily area driver, and biker it is the bikers that have to go out of there way to make themselves visible to motorists like you who spend all of your time adjusting your radio and talking on your phones so that you don't see us. Pay attention as you are supposed to and we can share the road!
I agree 9:31. I, by my own fault, merged into the path of a motorcycle yesterday. Thank God, it was a merge was speed was very slow but also a spot where there were bushes at the yield and I didn't see the motorcycle. He was on alert and he prevented the accident, not I. I apologize for almost hitting him and thank you for being the one who was watching me.
And I love the "noise". I ride down the road and put my window down just to hear the rumble. They have filled the gas pumps, restaurants, and hotels. In my opinion, you are welcomed back anytime and I will continue to cheer you on. Be Safe.
Drove from Snow Hill to Delmar and back yesterday. I had two to three near misses with inattentive and aggressive drivers...none were driving motorcycles.
Glad they're leaving. I chose to live on the Eastern Shore because I do NOT want events like these in my neighborhood. We did fine without them. OC and many resort towns are louder & more dangerous with them. So much for a "family" resort.
Any news on the motorcycle accident? We saw 3 ambulances heading to PRMC while we were at the car show at K-Mart shopping center and figured it must be bad. Nothing in the news elsewhere on this.
9:17 AM it is idiots like you that are careless around bikers. I was coming back from OC with my 9 y/o son on the back when a Jeep coming off Rt. 90 Westbound thought he had the right of way and forced me out of the slow lane to the fast lane. What ticked me off most about that was a MSP Trooper was directly behind me and allowed the operator of the Jeep to get away with it.
Did fine without them? With all the businesses closing? A few days of bikes and you cant handle it? You don't know what traffic is.
10:19 It isn't about the traffic. I don't like the noise. Don't like how rude many of them are in the restaurants. How nasty they are with their cigarrette butts, trash, fowl language, etc. etc. etc. Have you seen them drive up and down coastal highway? The police could pull over hundreds if they enforced the laws. If you're ok with this, you can say it. I'm not. I don't like what I've seen firsthand. I don't want the rore of thunder in my neigborhood. And, I'm entitled to say this too. No offense intended either.
I am not a bike rider. I don't have a problem with them being here and on the roads. My kids enjoy watching them ride their bikes. They do way more good for us than harm. I have found them to be very respectful on the roads. Pay attention and share the road.
I was driving home yesterday down Rt. 50 and between Parsonsburg and Willards a group of 9 - 10 bikers were speeding and weaving in and out of the lanes between cars. It was a dangerous situation - not because of the cars but those motorcyclists who were driving erratically. I support the Bike Week event and am all for everyone watching out for motorcyclists, but it is not always the fault of the car/van/truck. These bikers yesterday could have caused a very serious accident and could have been seriously hurt. Hopefully they made it where they were going safely.

I dont like the noise of "crotch-rockets" much either,but its a boost to the local economy on an otherwise slow weekend.
9:56, I make my living because of events like this, and I do fine "with" them. You're no better than the thousands of people who work in the hospitality industry who benefit because of the tourism. So respectfully, shut up.
And 10:46, I dealt with them first hand all weekend. They are overall much nicer and courteous in the restaurant and bar setting than the normal weekend crowds. And they don't smoke cigarettes more than any other demographic. Stop with all the hatred just because they look a little rough around the edges.
Joe I don't normally agree with you, but you're right if people around here want to whine about traffic, go drive on Ritchie Highway or 695 between 4-6 any day of the week you'll think 13 through Salisbury is a country road.

12:00 You are right! Because of things like this, and the people coming from DC, Baltimore, Philly, etc. it isn't any more! Very Unfortunate too! That's the point. didn't say some don't like this. just that many don't. I'm more interested in our quality of life, not the almighty dollar.
I have a bike too but have to work 2 jobs to keep up my lifestyle so didn't have time to attend any of the affairs. I drive up and down U.S. 50 every day and can vouche for the fact that most of the bikers are respectful and law abiding but there is still quite a few that think they own the road and give the rest of us a bad image.
I don't mind the bikers being here one bit. The sound of a Harley reminds me that is AMERICAN. I have had no problems with the bikers at all. My son had a problem yesterday with someone on one of those crotch rockets that decided people were going to slow so he drove between my sons car and the box truck next to him. Those are the idiots we don't need on bikes. I have heard from many people that work in retail and they all say the same thing. The bikers are the nicest of all the people they have to deal with. They had a beautiful weekend and from the sound of all the cycles going down Rt 50 starting on Thursday, they had a great turn out. HOPE TO SEE YOU NEXT YEAR BIKERS!!!

Not sure what you mean about cigarette butts. As for foul language, eh, I have heard little children curse like sailors around here.
You are entittled to your opinion, and I am even sure you seen some bad actions.
You have those in any group. I seen a couple bikers do things I thought were juvenile, rude and unneccessary. As well as four wheelers that do it every single day.
I slow down and get away from them or take another route.
As far as the noise, its there and always will be there for bikes. I have loud pipes on my bike too. Mainly because I like the sound and hopefully I will be heard, ( even if most of the sound is towards the rear).
Ear plugs are an inexpensive way for you to lessen the noise you hear if it bothers you that much.
I saw a few cop cars with what looked like sound measuring devices on back of there cars. If any citations were issued I don't know. I rode pass one and he didnt bother me.
