Monday’s Storm ‘A Frightening Couple Of Minutes’ In Ocean City, WOC
OCEAN CITY — The tornado or microburst that touched down in West Ocean City on Monday evening followed a distinct path and a trail of destruction roughly from the Ocean City Airport through West Ocean City and across the bay to 14th Street and Harbour Island, site of the 44th Annual White Marlin Open on the tournament’s first day.
Shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for much of Worcester County and advised citizens to take shelter immediately. About an hour later, a tornado or microburst, which has not yet been clearly defined by the National Weather Service, impacted the Ocean City Airport in West Ocean City, downing trees and damaging one small airplane.
A large tree upended at the airport, falling on and damaging at least two rental cars belonging to a satellite rental car agency at the facility. In addition, a small plane that had just landed prior to the tornado warning was bounced around on the runway and suffered damage, according to airport manager Jamie Giandomenico. The two men aboard the plane immediately sought shelter upon arrival with the tornado warning posted and the aircraft was not completely secured before the high winds landed in the area.
“It was very, very localized,” he said. “It was super intense for maybe 90 seconds to two minutes. Then, it was gone just like that.”

Boy Mayor Jake Day Desperate To Rid Of All Forms Of Media, Can You Say Donald Trump?
Salisbury – Mayor Jake Day has announced that the City will conduct a weekly, interactive briefing to keep citizens up-to-date with safety related matters. The briefings will occur every Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m., and will include information and updates on crime in the City, fire/ems calls for service, and other helpful safety tips and information.
The briefings will simulcast on Periscope and Facebook, and will be archived after the fact for those who are unable to view live. Citizens are encouraged to participate online. Questions will be taken from the public via Facebook and Periscope comments sections and will be answered live.
“Access to accurate, relevant information is key to helping people feel safe in their communities,” said Mayor Day. “We have always striven for transparency—whether by leading the way as one of the first agencies to voluntarily embrace body camera technology, or by having the Chief of Police and other City leaders meet with stakeholders in neighborhoods throughout Salisbury—our goal has been cooperation and the open sharing of information. Now we are ready to lead once again, as we become one of the first municipalities to establish this sort of interactive dialogue with our citizens over live stream.”

Publishers Notes: If you attempt to view any of this on your cell phone it will immediately wipe out all of your data. If you try to watch it on line it gets extremely annoying as it lags so often it just ticks you off.
For a guy who claims SBYNews doesn't get the traffic we say we do, he sure is going through a lot of trouble to act like President Trump, which is perfectly fine with me because no one will watch what Jake has to say anyway. By the way Jake, I don't know who you are trying to impress but I saw your press conference yesterday and the first thing a female said to me is, why does he wear spandex dress pants. Too damn funny, but true.
Car Rams Into Group Of Soldiers In Paris; Six Injured In "Deliberate Act Of Terrorism"
In the latest car-ramming terrorist attack in France, at least six French soldiers were injured, three of them seriously, after being rammed by what was described as a black BMW in a Paris suburb, French Armed forces confirmed, adding that the police were searching for the driver in what prosecutors are treating as the latest act of terrorism.
Patrick Balkany, the local mayor for the suburb of Levallois-Perret, said on French television that it was “without a doubt a deliberate act.”Quoted by the WSJ, he said the vehicle involved was a black BMW. The driver waited in an alley near the local city hall before driving his car into the men as they walked out of a building toward their vehicle around 8 a.m. local time, Mr. Balkany added. He also said that the incident took place not far from the town hall.

They’re trying to foist another Kennedy on us —enough!
On Tuesday, New York magazine published an essayby a 24-year-old law student who recently paddleboarded around Manhattan for the first time.
“I signed up for the race because I thought it sounded cool,” writes our participant. “Of course, when I asked around, everyone said it was really hard and I’d better start training.”
The smugness, the entitlement, the painfully obvious observation — one might wonder: Who cares?
Until you look at the byline and realize: Oh, of course. Another Kennedy, foisted upon us.
Our diarist is none other than Jack Schlossberg, grandson of JFK, son of Caroline, accomplishment-free save for that 25-mile race around Manhattan — which he curiously notes he lives “on” rather than “in”.
This semi-self-deprecating essay is juxtaposed with 14 portraits of Jack in black-and-white on his big day, muscular and shirtless and smiling, just one of the guys. He resembles no one so much as his late Uncle John F. Kennedy Jr., who, until his untimely death in 1999, was the Kennedy family’s last last great hope.
Is anyone asking for this?

Conservative Latino Omar Navarro Challenges Maxine Waters in 2018
Omar Navarro, 28, says he’s had “enough” of watching California’s liberal politicians let the Golden State and country fall apart.
The young, Latino conservative is challenging left-wing Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) for her seat in the 43rd Congressional District in the 2018 elections.
“When I realized Maxine Waters was my representative, I said, ‘Wow, this person is representing me? How are people electing this person year after year?'” Navarro said. “I started doing research and looking into her background and I did not see one candidate running a legitimate campaign against her in 27 years.”
In an interview with Breitbart News, Navarro said he is tired of seeing “liberal politicians that are running their own districts, their own counties down to the ground. Enough is enough.” He said he’s running in 2018 because “We have to do something about it and I’m not going to let our country fall apart.”

Rough Seas Turn White Marlin Open Into Three-Day Tourney
OCEAN CITY — Rough seas offshore and strong storms inshore have essentially turned the 44th Annual White Marlin Open into what will become a three-day shootout with a wide open leaderboard and over $4 million in prize money at stake.
Just 136 of the registered 353 boats fished on Monday, the tournament’s first day, and netted scattered results with a decent tuna and wahoo on the board but no billfish. On Tuesday, the weather improved on shore, but the seas were expected to be even worse than Monday, resulting in just 12 boats trying their luck on day two.
With each of the 353 registered boats choosing to fish three of the five days, that equals 1,059 total “boat days.” However, through the first two days, just 148 boat days have been expended, leaving over 900 over the tournament’s last three days.
On Monday, most of the 136 boats that made a go of it enjoyed a decent ride out to the canyons, but conditions deteriorated rapidly during the day. The seas were running two- to three-feet around 8:30 a.m. on Monday when lines could officially dropped, but about an hour later, the winds picked up to 15-20 knots and the seas rose to five feet and building, according to WMO officials. Later in the day when most of the 136 boats were heading in, the winds had picked up to 40 knots with higher gusts and the seas worsened to 12 to 15 feet.

Charter Schools Boost Performance of Nearby Schools
Study: NYC public schools in close proximity to charters see increased test scores
Anti-school choice activists often argue that charter school expansion hurts existing schools, but a new study of New York City schools found that new charter schools are increasing the performance of schools around them.
The peer-reviewed statistical analysis, conducted by Temple University professor Sarah Cordes, indicates charter schools are not only helping the students enrolled, but also students at schools that feel pressured to increase performance due to their close proximity to a new charter school.
The study found that schools located within half a mile of a new charter school saw increased scores in both math and reading, and the increase become more significant the closer the schools were. The impact was felt most in situations where a charter school opened inside the same building as an existing school.

Wicomico County Retirees: The Deal with Insurance Coverages
By Thornton Crowe
From the last article on Sunday about County retirees, many expressed confusion about the Healthcare Insurance including Prescription and Dental coverage once they reached 65 years old, so I decided to do some digging to get answers to the various inquiries.
While it may seem perplexing, the answer is actual very simple: It’s Federal Law.
Talking with a couple Human Resources departments as well as reviewing Federal law, as it turns out, this law regarding Medicare has been in effect long before Obamacare. In fact, if you look at your 2003 handbook, it clearly states, once you reach the Medicare-eligible (65) age, you instantly transfer to Medicare as your primary and the County insurance becomes your secondary.
Furthermore, all health, prescription and dental insurance premiums for the County portion costs 50% less than former premiums, due to the fact the County shopped around for lower premiums. Hence, these lower premiums affords seniors to buy supplemental insurance through Avery Hall or other providers should they choose to do so. Gap insurance is highly suggested given the doughnut hole many face when the ‘gaps’ kick in.
The problem with prescriptions is Medicare changes the drugs they will cover constantly; therefore, it can become very confusing for recipients to figure out what is and isn’t covered. This has nothing to do with the County.
The bottom line is, retirees need to shop for gap insurance the same way they bargain hunt for everything else these days. If you really want to cut down on your prescription costs, another good avenue to pursue is prescription rebates received directly from drug companies. It is proven, this can save seniors substantially!
County retirees are actually quite lucky because the County covers 75% of dependents’ cost where other places called said no dependents receive coverage at all on their retiree plans. Furthermore, those same places only pay 50% of the retirees’ secondary coverage whereas the County pays 84% for the same.
While Obamacare has not helped the already-confusing situation, it is certainly not the culprit as stated above. Therefore, it would be a good measure for Wicomico retirees to understand it was not the County’s doing that led to their insurance woes, but our friendly federal government and their rules regarding Medicare.
At the end of the day, County retirees are a lot better off than most other retirees coming from other government agencies - and certainly from private sector employment!

Trump administration sides with Ohio on purging voter rolls
President Donald Trump’s administration has reversed the government’s position on a voter roll case before the U.S. Supreme Court and is now backing Ohio’s method for purging voters.
Ohio’s system for removing inactive voters from the rolls does not violate the National Voter Registration Act, the Justice Department said Monday.
The government’s filing said it reconsidered its position following the change in administrations. The Justice Department under President Barack Obama said Ohio’s method was prohibited.
Ohio’s process involves a three-part test that starts with voters who haven’t cast ballots in two years, then fail to respond to a notice trying to verify their address, and then fail to vote for an additional period of two federal elections.

History Lesson on Your Social Security Card
Your Social Security Card - did you know?
Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this. It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your family and friends. They need a little history lesson on what's what and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts.
Social Security Cards up until the 1980's expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the message, NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION, was removed.
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,
No longer Voluntary
2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program,
Now 7.65%
on the first $90,000
3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,
No longer tax deductible
4.) That the money the participants put into the independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,
Under Johnson the money was moved to The General Fund and Spent
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.
Under Clinton & Gore
Up to 85% of your Social Security can be Taxed
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to 'put away' --you may be interested in the following:
----------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- ----
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US
------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?
AND MY FAVORITE:
A: That's right!
Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.
Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!
------------ -- ------------ --------- ----- ------------ --------- ---------
Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

Ex-SF Mayor Suggests GOP Foreign Policy Estab. Wants Trump Impeached
Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown suggested that the Republican foreign policy establishment may want to see President Donald Trump impeached after dining with two of its most prominent members.
Last weekend, the legendary California Democrat wrote about a dinner invitation he received from former Secretary of State George Shultz and his wife Charlotte. In his San Francisco Chronicle column, Brown revealed that former Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger attended the private dinner along with Michael Bloomberg, California Governor Jerry Brown (and his wife Anne), Tom Steyer, California gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newson (and his wife Jennifer), and San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee (and his wife Anita).

Obama-linked activists have a ‘training manual’ for protesting Trump
An Obama-tied activist group training tens of thousands of agitators to protest President Trump’s policies plans to hit Republican lawmakers supporting those policies even harder this week, when they return home for the congressional recess and hold town hall meetings and other functions.
Organizing for Action, a group founded by former President Barack Obama and featured prominently on his new post-presidency website, is distributing a training manual to anti-Trump activists that advises them to bully GOP lawmakers into backing off support for repealing ObamaCare, curbing immigration from high-risk Islamic nations and building a border wall.
In a new Facebook post, OFA calls on activists to mobilize against Republicans from now until Feb. 26, when “representatives are going to be in their home districts.”

Greenspan: Bond bubble about to break because of 'abnormally low' interest rates
Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan issued a bold warning Friday that the bond market is on the cusp of a collapse that also will threaten stock prices.
In a CNBC interview, the longtime central bank chief said the prolonged period of low interest rates is about to end and, with it, a bull market in fixed income that has lasted more than three decades.
"The current level of interest rates is abnormally low and there's only one direction in which they can go, and when they start they will be rather rapid," Greenspan said on "Squawk Box."
