The top executive of a Southern California private charter airline says the Golden State’s hostile business environment propelled his company’s decision to relocate to Texas.
“Not being viewed as an enemy, but being viewed as an asset is so refreshing,” said Alex Wilcox, Chief Executive Officer of JetSuite Inc., who, on Thursday, spoke to the Dallas Business Journal. He described the air carrier’s decision to move to North Texas this summer as a “welcome change.”
He even shared a glaring example of one difference between California and business-friendly Texas. “I tried to start flying out of Santa Monica, California. And they sued me because I was trying to bring a service to the city,” said Wilcox. “When I got to Dallas, literally, people in City Hall were like, ‘How can we help you?’”

Jeff Landry: Accurate Census Protects Our Republic
Late last month, my office and the American people received great news from the White House: our petition to reinstate the citizenship question in the decennial 2020 Census was approved. We will once again get a more accurate count of how many American citizens reside in our country.
As the chief legal officer of Louisiana and a former member of Congress – I know how critical the data concerning citizenship, legal immigration, illegal immigration, and the distribution of the population is to the functions of government. It is also crucial in terms of ensuring fair and equitable districting of the people’s representatives at the State and Federal levels. This issue touches the heart of our republic and the constitutional rights of every citizen.
The decision by Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross to ask if one is a citizen or not is no new idea. For decades, the Census Bureau included a citizenship question on the “long form” questionnaire sent to nearly one in every six households during each decennial census. The long form’s replacement – the American Community Survey – also collects information regarding citizenship and estimates citizen voting-age population, though its estimates have a much higher margin of error since it is sent to far fewer people.
The move by Secretary Ross is important because States generally apportion their legislative districts based on census numbers. Counting everyone regardless of legal status dilutes the votes of all legally-eligible voters by not only bolstering the representation of illegal immigrants and non-voting legal immigrants at the expense of the voting age citizenry, but by also skewing the national data and some States losing Congressional representation.
Furthermore, the reinstatement restores the rule of law. The Supreme Court has held that Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act prohibits “vote dilution” by state and local jurisdictions engaged in redistricting, which can occur when a racial group is improperly deprived of a single-member district in which it could form a majority.

Watch: Gaza rioters use 'terror kites' to drop firebombs
Terrorists operating in the Gaza Strip are using low-tech innovations to attack Israeli security personnel as the riots on the Israel-Gaza border entered their fourth week.
In a video taken in the central Gaza Strip, terrorists are shown preparing ‘terror kites’ mounted with firebombs. The kites are flown over Israeli forces or look-out positions, at which point the firebombs are dropped.
Israeli forces first spotted the ‘terror kites’ on Friday, when they were used to drop firebombs near Karni Crossing.

Alan Dershowitz: I'm not a defender of Donald Trump, I'm a defender of civil liberties and due process
Famed lawyer Alan Dershowitz on Sunday wouldn't say whether he had been asked to join President Trump's legal team, adding as a Democrat his only concern was whether Trump's civil liberties and due process rights were being infringed by special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe.
"I do not want to be his lawyer, I don't want to give him legal advice," Dershowitz said during an interview on CNN's "Reliable Sources."
Dershowitz, who dined at the White House on Tuesday as part of a prearranged meeting to discuss Middle East politics, described Trump as "pretty upbeat" during their conversation.
"At the dinner they basically threw me out when they wanted to talk about confidences," he continued. "I am not a supporter, I am not a defender of Donald Trump the person, I'm a defender of civil liberties and basic due process."
But Dershowitz recommended Trump's legal counsel focus on the state case against Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen in New York rather than Mueller's federal investigation.

WICOMICO COUNTY CITIZEN WARNING/ALERT SIREN SYSTEM
The warning system is designed to alert residents and visitors of Wicomico County about an imminent hazard to include weather-related danger such as a tornado warning. Wicomico’s siren system consisting of 14 sirens located at local fire departments and three (3) maintained by the Wicomico County Department of Emergency Services (DES) can be activated for specific affected areas in the county. In the event of an imminent hazard the alert tone – which differs from fire station alarms – will sound for a sustained 2 minutes. They are tested at 6:30 pm the first Monday of every month for 10 seconds. When the sirens sound, citizens should seek shelter immediately and then tune into local news media for additional information. Citizens should not call 9-1-1 to determine the hazard causing the activation.
Additional Information concerning the sirens and other emergency preparedness topics can be found on the department’s web page at www.wicomicocounty.org/ES.

'We will destroy all of Hamas's tunnels'
Eyal Zamir, head of the IDF's Southern Command, on Sunday evening spoke about the terror tunnel leading from Gaza into Israel which the IDF demolished over the weekend.
"We foiled an offensive tunnel that was penetrating into our territory. This is the deepest tunnel we have discovered. This fact reflects the technological capabilities we have in the Gaza Division,” Zamir said.
"This is significant and reflects a chain of successes," Zamir continued. "There is still work ahead of us and we are continuing with it more forcefully. In the end we will destroy Hamas’s entire offensive tunnel project."
Zamir also said that the goal of Hamas's tunnel was to reach Israel and carry out terror attacks.

Comey book: President Obama and Loretta Lynch 'jeopardized' the Hillary Clinton email investigation
Former FBI Director James Comey doesn’t believe anyone in the government brought politics into the Hillary Clinton email investigation — aside from then-President Obama and Attorney General Loretta Lynch, who he believes "jeopardized" the Department of Justice.
In his upcoming book, A Higher Loyalty, due out on Tuesday, Comey defends the FBI investigators who were charged with investigating Clinton’s private email server and her mishandling of classified information. The Washington Examiner obtained a copy of the book Sunday.
Comey said Obama’s public statements about the investigation “jeopardized” the investigation’s credibility in multiple interviews and seemed to absolve Clinton of any crime before FBI investigators completed their work.
“Contributing to this problem, regrettably, was President Obama. He had jeopardized the Department of Justice’s credibility in the investigation by saying in a 60 Minutes interview on Oct. 11, 2015, that Clinton’s email use was “a mistake” that had not endangered national security,” Comey writes. “Then on Fox News on April 10, 2016, he said that Clinton may have been careless but did not do anything to intentionally harm national security, suggesting that the case involved overclassification of material in the government.”
“President Obama is a very smart man who understands the law very well. To this day, I don’t know why he spoke about the case publicly and seemed to absolve her before a final determination was made. If the president had already decided the matter, an outside observer could reasonably wonder, how on earth could his Department of Justice do anything other than follow his lead.”

Trump wants James Comey jailed
President Trump repeatedly called for former FBI Director James Comey to be jailed for his handling of classified information and potentially lying to Congress in a string of tweets Sunday.
Excerpts from Comey’s upcoming book, A Higher Loyalty, which will be released on Tuesday, sparked the tweets.
“The big questions in Comey’s badly reviewed book aren’t answered like, how come he gave up Classified Information (jail), why did he lie to Congress (jail), why did the DNC refuse to give Server to the FBI (why didn’t they TAKE it), why the phony memos, McCabe’s $700,000 & more?” Trump tweeted.
Earlier in the morning, Trump slammed Comey for taking into account the polling in the 2016 election when deciding if he should notify Congress of the additional emails found on disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner’s computer in October 2016. Democrats widely blame Comey deciding to reopen the investigation into Clinton’s emails 11 days before the election for costing her the race.

Hilton: Will Comey be held accountable for his behavior?
Democrats and Republicans agree that James Comey is guilty of politicizing the FBI and meddling in the 2016 election. Everyone can now see that he is guilty of self-righteousness, self-regard and inappropriately producing a petty cash-for-gossip revenge attack on President Trump.
But the serious question, and one that goes to the heart of our confidence in law enforcement in this country, is whether James Comey is guilty of federal crimes.
If there is evidence to that effect, and if a case is not brought against him, that would be a shattering blow to democratic norms. It would send a message that the most senior law enforcement officials in the land can behave exactly as they wish, carry out whatever personal and political vendettas they want - and get away with it. It would send a message that America’s law enforcement officials are, in fact, above the law.
That is a dangerous and frightening scenario - one you would more normally associate with a banana republic or authoritarian dictatorship than the world’s oldest democracy.
So it’s important we examine this matter carefully. There are many accusations about Comey’s behavior swirling around. The very fact that his tenure at the FBI has brought so much controversy in its wake - even before President Trump was elected, let’s remember - point to a level of professional incompetence that deserves censure.
There are four specific areas where there are serious grounds to suspect that James Comey broke the law while he was FBI Director:

Gingrich: Comey has written an anti-Trump novel that will be amazingly discredited
My first reaction to fired FBI Director James Comey’s new book "A Higher Loyalty" is to demand that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein release the still-secret Comey memorandums describing his conversations with Donald Trump as president-elect and president. After seeing hundreds of pages of Comey’s self-serving version of reality, the American people deserve to see what he actually wrote at the time of these conversations.
I suspect the memos will undermine a lot of Comey’s case. In fact, it is hard to understand why Rosenstein is keeping these memos hidden – unless it weakens the Deep State’s case against President Trump.
There are two striking things about the initial leaks of the Comey anti-Trump novel. And I call it a novel because it will be amazingly discredited after the elite media is done fawning over Comey and people actually look at what he wrote and how he positioned himself.

Allergy Season In Maryland Set To Spike
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — With the arrival of spring and warm weather comes seasonal allergies, and experts predict next week will be the worst so far this year.
The beauty of spring is blooming all around, which can make some allergy sufferers miserable.
“I deal with it every year, and I do the best I can,” allergy sufferer Susan Berman said.
Millions of Americans deal with this pesky problem.
Tree pollen is the biggest allergen this time of year.
Experts warn that the unusual weather pattern has impacted the season.
“The pollen is getting a little bit of a late start. We haven’t seen high levels in early April like we usually do, but watch out, you are going to get spikes this week of some of the highest pollen levels we have ever seen potentially,” Allergist Dr. Manav Singla with MedStar Health.

Be the Man in the Arena: How to Get Involved in Politics
If you look at news on the web, on TV, or on your social media feeds, it seems like politics have never been more toxic than they are today. Partisanship, gridlock, and continuous outrage make it easy for a man to look at the political realm and say, “No thanks.” Yet the thread of politics runs deep through the history of man — occasionally giving us knots, but also weaving in some of our strongest leaders and noblest ideals. It has created a fabric that ties us together, across social classes and throughout the generations. A few eminent men throughout history make our responsibility clear:
“Be master of yourself, and view life as a man, as a human being, as a citizen, and as a mortal.” —Marcus Aurelius
“It ought to be axiomatic in this country that every man must devote a reasonable share of his time to doing his duty in the Political life of the community.” —Theodore Roosevelt (Find more of Teddy’s incisive thoughts on citizenship here.)
“My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country!” —John F. Kennedy
The most direct way to get involved in politics is to run for office yourself, but you don’t have to go all-in to make a difference. There are a wide range of opportunities to participate in the democratic process, and along the way you will sharpen your own beliefs, strengthen your connection with your community, and make friendships forged in common values and shared experiences. I’ve met some of my best friends while working on campaigns, and I hope your journey can be just as rewarding.
If you have never volunteered for a campaign before, gotten involved with a political party, or helped facilitate an election, this is your call to action, and your guide to getting started. If you are already active in politics, you may find a new way to broaden your experiences and take on a larger role in your community. Your town, your state, your district, and your country cannot improve unless good men open the gates and step into TR’s rhetorical arena. Let’s get started.

Viking skeleton’s DNA test proves historians wrong
The remains of a powerful Viking — long thought to be a man — was in fact a real-life Xena Warrior Princess, a study released Friday reveals.
The lady war boss was buried in the mid-10th century along with deadly weapons and two horses, leading archaeologists and historians to assume she was a man, according to the findings published in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology.
Wrong.
“It’s actually a woman, somewhere over the age of 30 and fairly tall, too, measuring around [5 feet 6 inches] tall,” archaeologist Charlotte Hedenstierna-Jonson of Uppsala University, who conducted the study, told The Local.
And she was likely in charge.
“Aside from the complete warrior equipment buried along with her — a sword, an ax, a spear, armor-piercing arrows, a battle knife, shields, and two horses — she had a board game in her lap, or more of a war-planning game used to try out battle tactics and strategies, which indicates she was a powerful military leader,” Hedenstierna-Jonson said. “She’s most likely planned, led and taken part in battles.”

"Jerome Is The New Janet" - Stockman Rages At The Fed's Systematic Lies
The election of 2016 was supposed to be the most disruptive break with the status quo in modern history, if ever. On the single most important decision of his tenure, however, the Donald has lined-up check-by-jowl with Barry and Dubya, too.
That is to say, Trump's new Fed chairman, Jerome Powell, amounts to Janet Yellen in trousers and tie. In fact, you can make it a three-part composite by adding Bernanke with a full head of hair and Greenspan sans the mumble.
The overarching point here is that the great problems plaguing American society---scarcity of good jobs, punk GDP growth, faltering productivity, raging wealth mal-distribution, massive indebtedness, egregious speculative bubbles, fiscally incontinent government----are overwhelmingly caused by our rogue central bank. They are the fetid fruits of massive and sustained financial repression and falsification of the most import prices in all of capitalism-----the prices of money, debt, equities and other financial assets.
Moreover, the worst of it is that the Fed is overwhelmingly the province of an unelected politburo that rules by the lights of its own Keynesian groupthink and by the hypnotic power of its Big Lie. So powerful is the latter that American democracy has meekly seconded vast, open-ended power to dominate the financial markets, and therefore the warp and woof of the nation's $19 trillioneconomy, to a tiny priesthood possessing neither of the usual instruments of rule.
That is to say, never before in history has a people so completely and abjectly surrendered to an occupying power---even though its ostensibly democratic government already possessed all the votes and all the guns.
So it is no exaggeration to say, therefore, that the Fed is an alien state unto itself. That was powerfully symbolized most recently by the appointment of John Williams, a lifetime apparatchik at the San Francisco Fed, to the job of head satrap at the central bank's Liberty Street outpost in the heart of Wall Street.

Is This the Moment of Truth?
One of the most famous passages in American literature occurs in Chapter 13 of Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises. It takes place in a café in Pamplona, Spain during the running of the bulls.
Bill Gorton, a friend of the protagonist, Jake Barnes, has just arrived from New York. Bill is in the café talking with Mike Campbell, an upper-crust Englishman, now fallen on hard times but keeping up appearances.
In the course of telling a story about his tailor, Mike casually mentions his bankruptcy. Here’s the dialogue:
“How did you go bankrupt?” Bill asked.“Two ways,” Mike said. “Gradually and then suddenly.”“What brought it on?”“Friends,” said Mike. “I had a lot of friends. False friends. Then I had creditors, too. Probably had more creditors than anybody in England.”Mike admits to his own helplessness; his descent into bankruptcy was apparently totally beyond his control. This reflects upon his lack of control with regards not only to his business matters, but to his life in general.
You’ve probably seen variations of the part of the passage that says, “Gradually and then suddenly.” It’s often paraphrased or misquoted as, “slowly at first, and then quickly.”
The short version of the quote is offered as a warning that a slow, steady accumulation of debt with no particular plan for repayment can continue longer than expected, and then suddenly descend into a full-blown financial distress scenario and a rapid end-state of collapse.

“I can tell you that we’re not just going to hold in contempt, we will have a plan to hold in contempt and to impeach,” Nunes told Ingraham, who asked what his committee would do to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein if they don’t bow to his demand.
The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee has been seeking an unredacted version of the document which marked the beginning and formal basis of the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign on allegations it aided Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

White House Demands ‘Concrete’ Actions from China on Trade, Won't Halt Tariff Process
Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Tuesday pivot on trade and intellectual property is encouraging to the White House, but the Trump administration will move forward with intentions President Donald Trump has announced until the Chinese government produces concrete actions.
Reporters repeatedly asked Press Secretary Sarah Sanders during Tuesday’s press conference about the Chinese President’s new promises to cut automobile tariffs and make improvements on protecting intellectual property in China.
Moments ahead of the press conference, President Trump tweeted:
Jinping has made similar promises before. Sanders was asked if the new promises would be sufficient to prevent some of President Trump’s proposed tariffs on Chinese imports.
