Historic Depression-Era Mural Removed from Chicago School for Depicting Only White Children

A historic Depression-era mural has been removed from a Chicago school because it featured a painting of white children.

The painting, “Child and Sports–Winter,” was removed from the cafeteria at Percy Julian Middle School in Oak Park, Illinois, because the winter scene of children playing in the snow wasn’t “inclusive” enough as all the children in the painting were white, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The painting was produced in 1937 during the Great Depression by artist Ethel Spears who was a featured artist in President Franklin Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration (WPA).

Administrators at the school, named after Percy Julian, an African American scientist and inventor, insisted that the painting of white children upset the school’s majority black student population.

Newspapers Encouraging Locals To Flee To The US, Illegal Migrants Claim

Central American migrants apprehended at the border claimed to have been encouraged by local newspaper advertisements that promised work opportunities and free assistance from the U.S. government.

“The whole word knows, they put it in the news. They tell us everywhere if you come to the United States, they’ll help you,” said a Honduran woman apprehended at the southern border near the Rio Grande Valley. Speaking to CBS 4 news, a local news outlet, she and her family claimed they decided to make the trek to the U.S.-Mexico border after seeing several advertisements.

Numerous ads in Central America, reportedly paid for by operatives in the human smuggling business, are promising locals jobs and free help from the U.S. if they reach the border.

“Yes, we’ve been told that, we read it on our newspapers. That’s why we’re here,” said a Guatemalan pastor who was also apprehended in the Rio Grande valley area.

Additionally, the ads are telling readers that they have a better chance of getting through law enforcement if they bring a child: “We’ve been told if you are a father you can bring your child and you will be helped here if you’re in that situation,” the pastor explained.

South Seattle College TPUSA President: ‘I Feel More Empowered Than Ever’ Despite ‘Bias Incident’

South Seattle College Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter president Katie Daviscourt told Breitbart News that she feels “more empowered than ever” despite last week’s “bias incident” resulting in a hit and run car accident and a phone call to 911. The conservative student offered her remarks in a Tuesday interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.

Daviscourt spoke to Marlow on Tuesday about a recent hit and run accident that police are investigating, and also consider to be a “bias incident” after a man allegedly followed the conservative student with his vehicle as she walked to her car last week. The man caused Daviscourt to fear for her life, before the man struck another vehicle and fled the scene.

The student told Alex Marlow that despite last week’s incident, she feels “more empowered than ever,” and that “other students are catching on,” with regards to the importance of expressing their conservative views.

Daviscourt said one officer told her that he considered the incident a “hate crime,” adding that she believes the man is a student, noting that he had “showed up to class” on Monday, where he was then “served with emergency suspension papers.”

Student Newspaper Revises Guidelines to Censor Conservative Catholic Editor

John Carroll University’s student newspaper, the Carroll News, is revising its editorial guidelines in an effort to censor speech after students took offense to a conservative Catholic student editor expressing his views in the newspaper. The newspaper then released a statement chastising the editor, suggesting that “free speech” should make everybody “feel safe in its harmony,” and that the Catholic student’s views are in “direct conflict” with the mission of the Jesuit university. The editor has since resigned from his position.

Students at John Carroll University (JCU) took offense to an op-ed published in The Carroll News by editor Declan Leary, who criticized a new magazine, entitled, Loud & Proud Zine, after it had first criticized him for expressing his views about a JCU-funded drag show last semester. Leary argued that a Catholic university is not an appropriate location for hosting such events.

Microsoft's web-based email services breached

Some users of Microsoft's web-based email services including @msn.com, @hotmail.com, and @outlook.com have had their accounts breached, with the accounts remaining in a compromised state for more than two months.

As TechCrunch and Motherboard report, an email sent out by Microsoft late last week explains that access to its system was gained through compromised Microsoft support agent credentials. Email accounts were then accessed and information including each account's email address, folder names, subject lines, and the other email addresses communicated with could be viewed.

That was the extent of the breach for most compromised accounts, but around six percent of affected users didn't get so lucky. The information accessed in their accounts extended to the body of emails, their date of birth, calendar activity, admin center, and their logon history.

The compromise lasted from Jan 1. to March 28.

He went on ask for the federal government to step in and provide assistance.

The city of Yuma also tweeted about the proclamation, citing Nicholls, claiming that released migrants were coming into the area faster than they were leaving.

Why Couldn’t They Put Out the Fire at Notre Dame Cathedral?

Firefighters stood helpless to stem the blaze Monday at Notre Dame Cathedral, likely because of Gothic engineering techniques that waterproofed the roof, consigning it to destruction.

The roof and spire of Notre Dame were all but doomed to burn once flames began to spread, possibly begun by a renovation accident,
according to Ted Henderson, who studied archaeology at Dartmouth College. Henderson said a Gothic engineering technique used to waterproof the top of the cathedral involved placing a lead sheet roof over a wooden truss structure on top of the groin vault that served as the ceiling of the cathedral’s nave.

The wooden truss became highly flammable as it dried over hundreds of years, but was completely sealed from the outside by the lead sheets, and therefore impervious to firefighters’ efforts to douse the flames with water, Henderson said.

“So the wood catches on fire and it’s not actually exposed to the outside of the building anywhere,” Henderson told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Pelosi Admits She Defended Ilhan Omar’s 9/11 Remarks Without Knowing What Was Said

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Tuesday admitted that she does not know the content of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) recent remarks about 9/11 — despite offering a full-throated defense of the freshman congresswoman in the wake of criticism from President Donald Trump.

“I don’t think the congresswoman is anti-Semitic. I wouldn’t even put those in the same category,” Pelosi told interviewer Christiane Amanpour in Ireland. “We have no taint of that [anti-Semitism],” she added. “And just because they want to accuse somebody of that doesn’t mean that we take that bait.”

Pelosi also dismissed criticisms that she hasn’t done enough to defend Omar, conceding, “Until I talk to somebody, I don’t even know what was said.”

Kim Foxx meddled in Jussie Smollett case weeks after ‘recusing’ herself, texts show

New text messages reveal that Chicago prosecutor Kim Foxx was meddling in the Jussie Smollett case weeks after she claimed she’d recused herself — complaining that the “washed up celeb” faced too many charges.

Foxx’s office issued a statement recusing her on Feb. 19, though they later claimed she “did not formally recuse herself.”

But in March 8 text messages released Tuesday as part of a FOIA request from The Post and other outlets, Foxx tells First Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Joe Magats, who took over the case for her, that “I’m recused” — then went on to complain that the “Empire” star had been charged with too many crimes.

“Sooo …… I’m recused, but when people accuse us of overcharging cases … 16 counts on a class 4 becomes exhibit A,” Foxx wrote at the start of the exchange.

OVERSIGHT REPUBLICANS QUESTION DEMOCRATS’ STATE VOTING RIGHTS PROBE

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Oversight Committee Republicans raised concerns about Chairman Elijah Cummings’s (D-MD) partisan attack on states’ rights. These concerns come in response to investigations initiated by Chairman Cummings and Congressman Jamie Raskin (D-MD), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties about state elections in Texas, Georgia, and Kansas. The Chairmen began their investigations without consulting the Committee Members who represent the states they targeted.

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX), Ranking Member of the Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Subcommittee, Congressman Jody Hice (R-GA), Ranking Member of National Security Subcommittee, Congressman Michael Cloud (R-TX), Ranking Member of the Economic and Consumer Policy Subcommittee, sent a letter to Chairman Cummings and Chairman Raskin detailing their concerns with this partisan probe. They also sent letters to various state and local officials in Texas, Kansas and Georgia.

Excerpt of the letter to Chairman Cummings:

“The Supreme Court has made clear that Congress is not ‘a law enforcement or trial agency’ and that ‘[n]o inquiry is an end in itself; it must be related to, and in furtherance of, a legitimate task of the Congress.’ We have serious concerns that your letters appear to be an attempt to insert the Committee into particular state election proceedings, for which we do not see a legitimate legislative purpose.”

JORDAN ISSUES MEMO SLAMMING CUMMINGS’S UNPRECEDENTED DECISION TO ISSUE SUBPOENA TO MAZARS USA FOR PRESIDENT’S PERSONAL FINANCES

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, sent a letter to Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and memorandum to Committee Members detailing how the Chairman’s decision to subpoena sensitive, personal information about the President’s finances is a gross abuse of the Committee’s subpoena authority and a violation of the Chairman’s promises to the Committee.

Excerpt from the letter:
“As explained in the attached memorandum, your intended action is an unprecedented abuse of the Committee’s subpoena authority to target and expose the private financial information of the President of the United States. Your intended action is also a blatant violation of your promise to debate and vote on Committee subpoenas. Although there were nine legislative days following your receipt of Mazars’s response letter-during which time you informed the media that you intended to subpoena Mazars-you purposefully waited for Members to return to their districts for the Easter district work period before moving forward to subpoena Mazars.”
Excerpt from memorandum:

“What is unprecedented here is the extent to which Chairman Cummings and House Democrats have gone to attack the President for political gain. Chairman Cummings’s subpoena for President Trump’s sensitive, personal financial information goes hand-in-glove with Chairman Neal’s request for President Trump’s personal tax returns and with Chairman Nadler’s expansive investigation into 81 entities with personal or business relationships with the President. These are all part of a coordinated and carefully managed campaign to use congressional oversight for partisan advantage-in fact, I recently became aware that Chairman Cummings has executed a secret Memorandum of Understanding with Chairwoman Maxine Waters to attack the President.”

Laguna Beach Reconsidering ‘Aggressive’ American Flags on Police Cars After Backlash

The Laguna Beach community is divided over a new police car design featuring the American flag, which some residents complain is frightening and aggressive.

The Laguna Beach City Council decided in February to repaint the Southern California city's all-white squad cars black-and-white with the word "Police" in the colors of the American flag. But the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday that the council will reconvene Tuesday to consider reversing the decision amid complaints from residents.

A local designer told the council in a March meeting that he had witnessed the new police cars spark "a little panic" when several rolled up to a Laguna Beach hotel, causing parents with children to scatter.

"When one of them's there it works, but all of a sudden, I saw, wow, when there are three, maybe four of them together, folks thought it was a SWAT team, federal agents. So it had a very striking, strong impact, so much so that I think there might be some unintended consequences," he complained.

Hurt: It’s Time for Elite Northern Cities to Share Burden of Illegal Immigration

Once again, President Trump has hit upon a supposedly “controversial” proposal that has caused the entire herd of fainting goats in the Washington press corps to collapse in fevered panting and jerky spasms. And, once again, the idea is simple, logical and genius.

Faced with a massive and growing crisis of 100,000 illegal immigrants storming the border every month, Mr. Trump must decide what to do with all these people who have discovered the giant Trojan horse that is America’s immigration system.

Cross the border, claim asylum, get a court date, be set free and vanish into the interior of the country — never to show up for that court date. Even better, grab a child or buy somebody else’s child (previously known as “human trafficking” or “child slavery”) and hit the border claiming to be a “family.”

These people — chiefly Democrats and journalists these days — claiming there is no crisis on the border and encouraging this disaster to continue are on the wrong side of what is turning into a massive humanitarian crisis.

All so they can feel good about themselves. They think of themselves as “welcoming” and are encouraging so many people to make such a treacherous journey — guided by mercenary merchants of misery and death — that should end with them getting sent right back to where they came from. If they don’t get raped and killed along the way.

All of this, of course, is underwritten by the murderous drug cartels that use their human packages as diversions at the border to tie up U.S. Border Patrol agents so they can get the product they actually care about — deadly opiates and other drugs — into the country undetected.

The president’s proposal: If House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the other open-border, Sanctuary City Democrats love this crisis so much, let them take in all the illegals while the courts catch up with all the cases.

Anti-Israel Student Group to Israeli Student: ‘Quit Complaining’ About Rocket Attacks

An anti-Israel student group at Cornell University told an Israeli student to "quit complaining" about rocket attacks from the Palestinian-controlled Gaza Strip in a Facebook post.

Earlier this month, Kidron wrote an op-ed for the Cornell Daily Sunwhich recounted a 2009 Gaza missile attack which hit her home and killed her dog.

"A mere two seconds after I entered the shelter, I heard a loud boom, and felt my home collapse. After leaving the shelter, I saw the rocket had hit my bedroom and killed my dog Rosie. I was only 12 years old," Kidron wrote.

Bernie Sanders Calls for Border Camps to End Catch-and-Release of Migrants

Sen. Bernie Sanders used a Fox News town hall event to urge federal agencies to detain Central American migrants pending their fast-track asylum hearings.

The plan would end the catch-and-release practices which are indirectly funding the Central American migration.

“We have a problem at the border, a serious problem … We need the proper legal processes at the border so that these issues can be adjudicated to determine whether or not people or should be entitled to asylum,” Sanders said April 15.

When asked where the migrants could be kept prior to their asylum hearings, Sanders responded by saying, “What about building proper facilities for them right now? That can be done right on the border.”

Waters Took More Than $200,000 in Corporate Money

Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) received more than $200,000 in corporate campaign contributions.

The chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee took in about $210,329 in corporate campaign money, most of which came from industry PACs, Politico reports.

Waters's openness to corporate PAC contributions differentiates her from progressives such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.), who have sworn off money from corporate committees. Politico notes that Waters' predecessor as Financial Services Committee chair, Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R., Texas), was a leading recipient of finance industry money.

Of the sectors of the financial industry, insurers have given the most to Waters, and hosted a fundraiser for her last month. The American Property Casualty Insurance Association, the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, MetLife, Primerica, State Farm, USAA, and Zurich are among the insurers which have donated to Waters.

TransUnion's PAC gave $5,000 to Waters earlier this year, just before its CEO testified before her committee about the company's shortcomings.

Antifa Threatens Candace Owens Event

Antifa members and their sympathizers are reportedly planning to “shut down” Monday’s College Republicans event at the University of Pennsylvania, where Turning Point USA communications director Candace Owens will be speaking.

Several tweets were recently made threatening Monday’s event at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) Candace Owens — one tweet coming from Philadelphia’s Antifa group, according to a report by The UPenn Statesman, the school’s independent student newspaper that is co-hosting the event with the College Republicans group.

The Philadelphia Antifa group had harassed Charlie Kirk and Owens out of a breakfast establishment last August — an incident that Owens had noted during last week’s Congressional hearing on hate crimes and white nationalism.

“If [Democrats] actually were concerned about white nationalism, they would be holding hearings on Antifa, a far-left, violent, white gang, who determined one day in Philadelphia in August that I, a black woman, was not fit to sit in a restaurant,” said Owens.

“They chased me out, they yelled ‘race traitor’ to a group of black and Hispanic police officers who formed a line to protect me from their ongoing assaults,” added Owens, “They threw water at me, they threw eggs at me, and the leftist media remained silent on it.”

Federal Appeals Court: Detained Immigrants Have No Right to 'Family Unity'

Illegal immigrants detained at the border don’t have a “due process right to family unity,” a federal appeals court in Virginia ruled Tuesday.

The decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit upheld a district court’s ruling that apprehended illegals don’t have the right to be held in the same state as their children, The Hill reported.

“On the merits, we, like the district court, have been unable to find a substantive due process right to family unity in the context of immigration detention pending removal,” the appeals court wrote in its ruling.

“To be sure, there are decisions that recognize the ‘power of parents to control the education of their own’ children… and the ‘fundamental right to make decisions concerning the rearing’ of one’s children… but those decisions hardly support the asserted right to be detained in the same state as one’s children, the right to be visited by children while in detention, or a general right to ‘family unity’ in the context of detention.”

PELOSI SAYS DEMOCRATS DON’T HAVE A ‘TAINT’ OF ANTI-SEMITISM

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says the Democratic Party does not have a “taint” of anti-Semitism, adding that President Donald Trump is wrong to make such accusations.

Pelosi’s comments come as Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar is under fire for reportedly making multiple anti-Semitic comments. Omar also recently described the 9/11 terror attacks as “Some People Did Something.” Pelosi said she still hasn’t spoken to Omar about the comment.

OC Beach Patrol Facing Unusual Recruitment Challenges

OCEAN CITY — Increased competition in terms of starting wages and the cost of seasonal housing has created recruitment challenges for the Ocean City Beach Patrol, resort officials learned this week.

During a budget work session on Thursday, April 11, long-time Ocean City Beach Patrol Captain Butch Arbin presented his agency’s fiscal year 2020 spending plan under the larger umbrella of the town’s emergency services department. Through the discussion of the beach patrol budget, which is largely unchanged from last year save for some inflationary increases related to salaries and benefits, it came to light recruitment efforts for the upcoming season has presented challenges for a variety of reasons to the point Arbin is not entirely confident he will start the summer with the optimum number lifeguards, or surf rescue technicians.

“It looks like we’ll have less guards manning less stands on Memorial Day weekend this year as we did last year,” he said.

Arbin described the three basic legs of the Beach Patrol’s three-legged stool as education, in the form of teaching visitors to “keep their feet in the stands until the lifeguards are in the stands,” prevention, or daily seminars on the beach to inform visitors of daily and even hourly changes in ocean conditions, and finally, intervention, which covers a multitude of interactions from pulling swimmers from rip currents to intervening in medical emergencies to locating and reuniting lost children with their families.

Office of Refugee and Resettlement Places 234,414 Migrant ‘Children’ in All 50 States

Statistics from the federal government show the fate of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrant ‘children’ who have come across the border with Mexico illegally or to seek asylum.

The Department of Health and Human Service’s Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) has relocated 234,414 Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) to all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands from 2014 to the first five months of the fiscal year 2019 (October 2018 to February 2019)

The majority of the UAC are males (71 percent in 2018) between the ages of 15 and 17, and most are from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, according to ORR.

The leftist media, however, is not reporting these facts while criticizing President Donald Trump’s suggestion that rather than saddling border cities with the crushing flow of illegal immigrants some could be transported to other places in the United States, including so-called “sanctuary cities” established to protect illegals from deportation.

WHITEHAVEN & UPPER FERRIES HOURS OF OPERATION CHANGE

Salisbury, MD … Starting May 16, 2019, the Whitehaven and Upper ferries will be changing their summertime hours of operation to operating from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (May 16th through September 15th). Historically, the ferries have operated 6:00 AM - 7:30 PM during the summer, however, traffic counts have shown that 95% of the ferry usage occurs between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. The revised hours of operation will maximize the ferry usage while reducing the cost to run the ferry. Operation during the other seasons will remain unchanged.

Why Should States That Protect Illegal Immigrants Be Rewarded With More Political Power?

Alabama has filed an unprecedented but little-noticed lawsuit against the U.S. Census Bureau. If the state wins, it could have major political ramifications and restore fundamental fairness in political representation in Congress.

Alabama is arguing that by including illegal immigrants in its count of the population, the Census Bureau deprives the state – and other states with low numbers of illegal immigrants – of representation in the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as votes in the Electoral College that determine who is elected president.

Conversely, the lawsuit argues, the practice of counting illegal immigrants in the census gives states that protect them (California, for example) seats and votes they are not entitled to have.

The 14th Amendment to the Constitution provides that representatives in the House “shall be apportioned among the several States … according to their respective Numbers,” with the “Numbers” determined by “counting the whole number of persons in each State.”

After every census, House seats are reapportioned according to the population of each state. Electoral College votes are reapportioned according to the number of each state’s congressional representatives.

Alabama is right about the unfairness of the current system. Illegal immigrants, by definition, have no right to be in this country. It is unjust to allow states to gain a political advantage over other states by flouting federal immigration law.

Study: Men with beards carry more germs than dogs do

(KUTV) — Beards may be totally "in," but they are also dirty, and hazardous to human health according to a study.

Scientists discovered men with beards have more germs in their hairs than dogs carry in their fur.

A new study found that every sample of beard hair collected was crawling with bacteria. Nearly half had bugs and bacteria considered hazardous to human health, the Daily Mail reports. The dogs tested had lower levels of microbes, a bacterium that causes disease.

Scientists initially wanted determine if humans could pick up a dog-borne disease from an MRI scan that was also used for examinations by veterinarians. Researchers took swabs from beards of 18 men, ages 18 to 76, and the necks of 30 dogs.

California educator warns of 'far-left' agenda being pushed on kids in classrooms

A California teacher who sued the state's teachers' association has claimed that unions are working with far-left groups to push and fund their "political agenda" on kids in public schools.

Rebecca Friedrichs, the author of "Standing up to Goliath," and educator of 28 years is now telling fellow teachers across the nation about the unions and their right to opt out of funding.

"What's shocking," Friedrichs told "Fox & Friends" Tuesday morning, "is teachers have no idea. People think teachers are these far-left people pushing this stuff. That is a lie. Most teachers are good, loving people... but we are being used by very powerful organizations - teachers unions collect about $5 billion tax-free every year from teachers - and they use that money to put their social, sexual, and political agenda into our schools."

The pro-life Christian educator said she was forced for almost three decades to fund the teachers union.

Yes, Representative Ilhan Omar Somebody DID Do Something! An Open Letter.

Rep. Ilhan Omar,

Please stop with the dramatic theatrics. Please also tell your attack hounds Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Rashida Tlaib to stop lying.

Americans publicly disputing your actions and words does not on its face demonstrate a public safety threat towards you. If there is evidence of a specific, valid, and violent threat against you please report such to the appropriate authorities.

Someone in the President’s camp deciding to side-by-side your unfortunate expression with vivid proof of what took place on the worst day in American history is not a threat to you in anyway—except perhaps—and quite appropriately—in your race for re-election.

The tweet and video of your words being interspersed with the falling towers and the smoking Pentagon on that day of horror, is fair, legal, and protected speech. Furthermore it had the benefit of starkly contrasting your lamentable attitude and casual behavior with the cold, vivid truth of the day that saw the American life and psyche change forever.

If you prefer not to be included in such controversy—stop wading into it. No one forced you to take an honorarium from CAIR. Your characterization was callous. Your facts were grossly inaccurate. And your attempt to deflect criticism on to the words of President Bush standing atop the rubble of the towers or the tweeted video of President Trump, when understood in context, reveal to us a continuing picture of who you are in your most core anti-Semitic & anti-American self.

Pelosi Talks About Her Great Leadership Abilities But Trump Quickly Brings Her Back To Reality

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appeared on "60 Minutes" on Sunday to talk about the wide range of issues. Not surprisingly, Pelosi used the spotlight to talk about the "great work" the Democrats have done since they've retaken the House. Translation: she used the time to talk about how great her and her leadership is.

"The power of the Speaker is to set the agenda. We didn't have a Speaker that would bring a gun bill to the floor. We didn't have a Speaker that would bring a DREAMers issue to the floor," Pelosi said, referencing former Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI). "We do now. And that's a very big difference. Tim Tebow is one final step from MLB

Tim Tebow was 18 years old, in green shorts and a gray T-shirt, walking from left field toward home plate for an offseason chat. He'd come to meet with his high school baseball coach, Greg Mullins, after school. Something's wrong, Mullins thought as Tebow approached. "Can we talk?" Tebow asked, and they moved to the dugout bench.

It was 2005, and Tebow, not yet a celebrity, had plotted out his future. His voice wavered. A few minutes into the conversation, Tebow shed a tear. He wouldn't play his senior season of baseball. He had decided to enroll early at Florida to pursue a football career.

"One of the hardest decisions I ever made was choosing to go football over baseball," Tebow said this month of that day at Nease High School in Florida, just south of Jacksonville. "It's an itch I've always had and a passion I've always had, and it didn't go away after years."

It's been 13 and a half years since the day Tebow's baseball career ended. Well, could have ended. Now, just weeks into year three of a rise through the minors, Tebow is one step from the major leagues. One step from his ultimate dream, which he set out for after his professional football career ended. While his foundation was growing and he was working as an ESPN college football analyst, he considered how the rest of his life would go. Maybe he'd give his "first love" another try. Maybe he'd try to play in the majors.

As his baseball odyssey extends into this spring, the question is how he'll handle the pitching for the Class AAA Syracuse Mets. The task at hand: cut down on strikeouts, hit for power, track down fly balls in the outfield. In Class AA, he struck out in more than 30 percent of his at-bats, but he hit a respectable .273. Through nine games this season, he's 5 for 31 with 13 strikeouts.

'A national crisis': Three veterans commit suicide outside VA hospitals across five days in two different states

Three U.S. military veterans have taken their own lives within five days of one another at VA facilities in Georgia and Texas.

29-year-old Gary Pressley was discovered inside a car in the parking lot of Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia on April 5.

Pressley was found with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at 8.45pm, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He had been medically discharged in 2012 after a car accident but had been struggling with his mental health ever since.

Concerned family members, including his mother, Machelle Wilson, told WMAZ-TV that his sister called the VA to tell them her brother was threatening suicide.

Race in America — A Black Conservative Analysis

The latest study from Pew Research Center suggests that blacks and whites in America are not on the same page when it comes to race relations.

The survey results are dismal, with more than 80% of black respondents reporting that slavery still continues to impact their position in America today. Seventy-eight percent of black people reported that our nation hasn’t done enough to put them on equal footing with their white counterparts.

When asked if black people will ever achieve equal rights someday, 50% of black respondents agreed that racial equality isn’t likely, though only 7% of white people thought the same.

This gap in faith is staggering and suggests that significantly more white people believe racial reconciliation is possible, though half of black people do not.

Dallas will no longer prosecute 'petty crimes'

Is this the face of criminal justice "reform"?

Dallas County district attorney John Creuzot is enacting sweeping changes to the way his office deals with crime. It appears that Creuzot will be giving petty criminals a pass.

Creuzot will "decriminalize" most petty crimes against property, reform the bail system, and refuse to prosecute first-time drug offenders.

Sanctuary Cities Welcome Illegal Aliens with ‘Open Arms’ While 38K American Veterans Remain Homeless

Sanctuary cities across the United States are responding to President Donald Trump’s threat to bus border crossers and illegal aliens to their jurisdictions, saying they plan to welcome all illegal immigration with “open arms” despite soaring homelessness problems.

Last week, Trump threatened to bus border-crossers and illegal aliens into sanctuary cities and states, like California and New York City, if the country’s asylum laws were not changed. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Sunday confirmed that the White House is considering the plan.

In interviews with the Daily Beast, sanctuary city mayors from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Chicago, Illinois; and Cambridge, Massachusetts, said their jurisdictions would be happy to welcome all illegal aliens.

In total, there are more than 550,000 American residents who are homeless nationwide. Meanwhile, the U.S. admits more than 1.5 million illegal and legal immigrants every year — the overwhelming majority of which are low skilled workers who compete for jobs against America’s poor, working, and middle class. The Washington, DC-imposed mass immigration policy drives housing costs up for Americans, economists have found.

Students, alumni outraged, 'shaking' after Vice President Pence invited to give commencement

Vice President Mike Pence is getting push back from Taylor University students and alumni after the small evangelical Christian school tapped the former Indiana governor to be this year's commencement speaker.

Over 3,300 people have signed a change.org petition to get Pence's invitation to the mid-May commencement ceremony rescinded, claiming the "Trump-Pence Administration's policies" are "not consistent with the Christian ethic of love we hold dear."

One Taylor grad said the school, "should be ashamed...I am physically shaking...I feel personally attacked," but not all alumni agree and Taylor officials said they are standing by their decision.

Kevin Holtsberry, a Taylor alumnus, told "Fox & Friends" Monday morning the outraged alumni and students are mistaking disagreement on political issues with personal attacks, while also thanking the school for "standing firm" and not pulling Pence's invitation.

Politicians look to separate Chicago from Illinois to create 51st state

The so-called "Second City" may eventually become the next state, after frustration regarding Chicago's influence over politics in Illinois.

A group of state Republican lawmakers recently signed on to legislation proposing the nation's third-largest city become the 51st state.

"It's more of a frustration of the policies than the true belief that Chicago and Illinois would be better off as separate states," Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer told the State Journal-Register. "I don't believe that Chicago and the state of Illinois should be separated. Our relationship is mutually beneficial."
